Note: Another drabble challenge on LJ. The prompts were "Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Hogwarts, insomnia." 100 words. The very first Harry Potter story I ever wrote (I've only written 3!).
Insufferable, arrogant, pig-headed, rude, stubborn—a prat, that's what he was. So why couldn't she stop thinking about him?
Hermione stole into the Gryffindor common room. It was deserted, but a small fire still burned. She was restless, exhausted from the exertion at Dumbledore's Army earlier in the evening. She smiled at a memory of Ron, ecstatic at finally disarming Harry with an enthusiastic cry of "Expelliarmus!"
Ron. She and Harry made so much more sense. But it wasn't Harry who filled her heart and mind, keeping her awake this winter night. When had anything at Hogwarts ever made sense?
