Im back and ready for action! Okay, i said i would do one shot things, so here i am, theaterinspired, back in action. I wrote this after watching FMA brotherhood episode 10. Then my bf wanted a poem to help with his homework, and i was like "hey, i need to bring in a poem tomorow. why dont i write one?" So I thought and this is what i came up with. its hughes' pov as hes dying. RIP. btw: it rained today.
I never thought that it would end like this,
Even though I am a soldier
"Willing to die for my country."
I never thought that it would happen so close to home.
The war has been over for a few years
So I thought I was in the clear
Even though I am still in the military.
No one prepares to lose this ultimate battle.
I have always come back from the war,
With maybe a few cuts and bruises,
But I came back to my friends and family.
I can tell that this could be it.
The first and only battle I won't come back from.
Why did I fight in the war?
It's simple.
I don't want to die
The reason is always simple.
And the reason is still the same.
I'm fighting the last war we all have to face.
Because I don't want to die,
Not yet.
You see,
I have a daughter
Who just turned three this year.
And a wife,
Who is about to start dinner.
They both are waiting for me to come home.
And I have this friend that I go way back with,
He has his goals for life set very high.
I promised him that I would help.
He's waiting for me to call him tonight.
But I guess the war isn't over yet.
No, it will never end as long as I live.
And as breathing is next to impossible,
And my mind is becoming foggy,
I can feel darkness engulf me.
I can tell that the end must be coming soon.
I'm sorry,
But this is the one battle
That everyone must face at some point
And it's a battle everyone is destined to lose,
Even if we put up a fight.
I guess that this is my time.
