Chapter 1
Off the Edge

It had just past three a.m. when George snuck into Issie's bedroom, and climbed into her bed and positioned himself so that he was facing her. Issie fluttered her eyelids open, and screamed, but was quickly muffled as George placed his hand on her mouth to stop her from waking Meredith.
"Shh. Shh. Shh. Issie it's me. George"
She glared at him and slapped his arms and chest repeatedly. "George what the hell are you doing?! I was sleeping! You scared the shit out of me. Ugh! What do you want?! This better be good, and it better not be about Meredith!" Issie glared at him. George was about to interrupt her, but when she finished her whispered rant he looked away from her constant stare and down at the piece of her blanket that he was playing with.
"George you woke me up half an hour early, before I have to go in for a forty-eight hour shift to whine to me about your love life, or lack there of. Stop being so pathetic and let me sleep!" Georges face flashed with hurt, before he got up and left Issie's room angrily and went to take his shower, a very long shower. He came out almost forty-five minute later, once the water had gotten cold. "Thank god Meredith took her shower last night" George said quietly to himself, as he smiled. He shaved and put on his deodorant and cologne, and went back into his bedroom, and laughed to himself when her heard Issie scream and growl his name. He emerged from his bedroom at the same time Issie stormed out of the bathroom and threw him a glare. "Whoops." He said before he went downstairs and joined Meredith in the kitchen.
"Good Morning George." Meredith smiled.
"Good Morning Meredith." George said with his usual greeting.
"What's got Issie all upset?" she asked as she leaned against the counter and wrapped her hands around her warm coffee mug.
"Oh…um…I well I kinda…uh…used up all the hot water" he said laughing lightly into his mug.
Meredith gave him a stern look, yet a small smile crept on her lips.
"What did she do this time?" she asked generally genuinely concerned.
"She just became the spirit of Dr. Evil's spawn." He smiled sadly.
"Aww. I'm sorry George."
Over the years, George and Alex had gotten to become the best of friends, resulting in George becoming more self confident and less timid, and Alex toning down his sarcasm and becoming an overall nice guy around the hospital. Him and Issie had started dating a year ago. Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd and Addison Montgomery Shepherd have finally patched up their marriage and both have become good friends and part of the group with the interns. Christina Yang has become Christina Burke, with her marriage to Preston about three months ago, and Baby Burke is on his way. Meredith has gotten of Derek almost instantly when she found out that Derek had chosen his wife of her. It seemed, to her, that she wanted him because he was a risk; however, she was over him faster than she thought, except now she was developing feelings for a different guy. A guy that was broken. A guy that she broke. George.
