Hey, guys. I know it's been a really long time since I've posted anything, and I'm really sorry about that. I'm not going to lie and say I just was really busy, because in truth, I wasn't. I had no motivation to write, and no ideas. A lot has happened in the time since I've updated, some of which inspired me to write this. I am working on a new chapter for "Worthless", and I have one in the works on my computer for "In the Darkness". (Long story short, my computer needs to be fixed, and all my files are on it. So, I won't be updating that story for the time being.) And, just to warn you, this was written in about twenty minutes and hasn't been proofread by anyone but myself, so I apologize for any mistakes.
Sora sighed as he gazed out the window of the Gummi ship, watching as the Universe flew past. The trips were always long and uneventful, giving him ample time to think back on his life before the Heartless destroyed his world and he became the Keyblade wielder.
He missed the days when everything was simple. He, Kairi, and Riku would hang out on the Islands and watch the ocean or the clouds drift by, or go out to the little island, fishing, sparring, and just generally having fun together. Now, everything was so chaotic, and he hadn't seen or heard from either of his two best friends in over a year, let alone the rest of his friends and family back on Destiny Islands. He didn't even know if any of them survived the original Heartless invasion.
"I really wish I could see everyone, if only for a few minutes," he thought morosely to himself. "If I could just do that, I'd be so happy." But, he knew it was impossible. All he could do was continue killing Heartless and Nobodies, saving worlds, and searching for Kairi, Riku, and the King for as long as it took to make everything right. He sighed again and rested his elbows on his knees with his head in his hands, causing his seat to squeak.
"You okay, Sora?" Goofy asked while turning to face the teen.
"Yeah, Sora, you okay?" Donald repeated.
"Yeah, I'm fine, guys," he replied, looking up to flash a fake smile and hoping they'd buy it. He didn't want to trouble them with his personal problems. They had enough on their plates already.
"You sure you're okay?" Goofy asked, not believing the forced smile. "If something's wrong, you can always talk to us."
"Yeah, we're here for you, Sora," Donald added, taking a seat next to his friend.
"I really miss everyone from back on the Islands, you know? It's been so long since I've seen them, and I don't even know if my family and friends are still alive," he started, his eyes beginning to water. "I just want to go home and see everyone, and make sure they're okay. I want to hug my parents, my little sister. I want to go swimming with Riku and Kairi. I just want things to be normal again, even if it's only for a few minutes…"
Donald and Goofy wrapped Sora in a comforting hug, and the teen broke down into tears.
"You'll see 'em again, Sora. Maybe not soon, but you'll see everyone again," Goofy said, patting his spikey-headed friend on the back.
"Yeah, and then you can do all that stuff for as long as you want!" Donald added, smiling at the boy.
"I really hope so," Sora replied, smiling weakly at his companions.
"We're landing now, guys!" Chip announced over the intercom.
"Time to go kill some Heartless," Sora said, standing and walking to the door.
"We're right behind ya!" Goofy replied, he and Donald following suit.
"I will see them again. I just have to keep fighting and searching," Sora thought to himself as the door to the Gummi ship opened, revealing Hollow Bastion.
I'm sorry it's short, but it's a start, right? Anyway, reviews are always appreciated.
