The book "Twilight," by: Stephanie Meyer is set in present day Forks Washington. The setting has a huge effect on one of the main characters because he cannot come out during the day due to the fact that he doest want to give his family of vampires secret away.

The main characters in this book are Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Bella Swan is telling the story from her point of view. Edward Cullen is the good vampire (boy) that she falls in love with. The way you find out Bella's personality is the way she describes herself and what Edward thinks of her. Bella's view on Edward and Edwards view on Bella are both kind of biased because they both think the other is perfect. "I am ivory-skinned without even the excuse of red hair or green eyes. Instead I have brown hair and brown eyes." Bella is an accident magnet. Either she falls by herself in gym or she takes someone down with her. Edward on the other hand thinks she is the prettiest thing he has ever seen, he basically is using everything he can to resist her. We do not have a non-biased description of Edward because of Bella. But what we do know is that he has honey colored eyes when he is happy and black ones when he is thirsty. He is white skinned, reddish brown hair and is very muscular.

"Twilight" starts out in Forks, Washington, where Bella meets Edward Cullen. When they both have proven that each is truly in love with the other Edward tells Bella his family's secret. They are a band of good vampires, (they do not eat people just animals). The day Bella meets Edwards's family some thing goes terribly wrong. A cult of bad vampires are passing through, and there leader, James, decides to hunt Bella. Bella and Edwards's sister and brother, Alice and Jasper, flee to Phoenix, Arizona while Edward and the rest of his family stay back to try and lead James off of Bella's tail. James goes to Arizona to and tricks Bella into thinking he has her mother. Edward and his dad jump onto a plane and Bella gets away from Jasper and Alice to try to save her mom. Edward and his dad arrive just in time and save Bella from a terrible fate.

The theme of this story is really like a vampire love saga. The universal statement that I got from the author really is in the quote from the begging of the story. The quote is from Genius 2:17 and is about Adam and Eve. Once Eve bit the apple she could never go back. Once Edward decides that Bella's wish to become a vampire should come true Bella can never go back.

I absolutely loved this book! I really like real life books that have some twist that you know could never come true but you would want them to. Edward is absolutely hilarious with his dark humor and dark sarcasm.

"'Afraid of a needle,' he muttered to himself under his breath 'oh a sadistic vampire intent on torturing her to death, sure no problem she goes off to meet him. An Iv on the other hand…' I rolled my eyes and looked away from him." In this scene Bella is a hospital in Phoenix and groans because of all the needles in her and that was Edwards's response. "'Someone broke into the dance studio down the street from our house and burnt it to the ground. They left a stolen car out front' my mother and I both shivered involuntarily. Once my mom left Edward grinned and was next to my bed in an instant. 'You stole a car?' I raised my brow. His grin tripled in size "It was a very car very fast.'" This is very funny because Edward love fast cars and driving fast. Also the dance studio is where James lured Bella and Edward and his dad burnt it to the ground because of all the blood. This book was absolutely terrific! Keep the good books coming Mrs. Meyer!
