I do not own Hetalia: Axis Powers. I just enjoy writing about the characters.

This is my first Hetalia fanfic so tell me what you think!

"Hey Canadia! What's up, bro?" Alfred Jones's obnoxious voice cut across the already-in-progress world meeting as he showed up late . . . again.

"It's Canada," sighed Matthew Williams for the millionth time. His twin could never get his name right. At this point he was pretty sure it was just to annoy him, but at least he knew who he was. The other countries had no clue he was even a nation, let alone that he was one of the biggest ones.

"Whatever dude," said Alfred with a smile.

After Germany and England were done glaring at America for the interruption, the world meeting continued surprisingly smoothly. England only strangled France once and Italy actually kept calm after a bribe from Japan.

Finally, it was time for lunch. America was the first out the door, having been mumbling about how badly he needed a cheeseburger. Everyone else followed at a more sedate pace, except Canada. He always brought his lunch since the UN cafeteria never had good food and, unlike his twin, he didn't particularly enjoy fast food. He was used to eating alone by now. It had become rather peaceful, but he did wish his brother would remember him a little more often.

An hour later, the first nations were starting to come back for the afternoon session. Prussia waltzed in and zeroed in on Canada reading his book. Since he wasn't able to mess with his younger brother Germany right now, this new bookworm would have to do.

Matthew was reading intently when his book was suddenly slammed shut, nearly catching his nose, and stolen out of his hands. He looked up fearfully at the albino man that was grinning maliciously at the younger nation.

"Pl-please give back my b-book," said Matthew, stuttering in his distress.

Gilbert looked down on his prey. "Why should I? You're too weak to beat me. What's your name anyway?"

Canada couldn't answer; his voice was frozen from fear. The albino nation was laughing meanly when someone slammed into him, knocking him to the ground and snatching the book out of his hands. Gilbert looked into furious blue eyes and the unusually angry face of America. Normally, the nation was laidback to the point of goofy and most of the other countries tended to forget he was a superpower. He grabbed Prussia by the collar and yanked him up to eye level.

"His name is Canada and don't you forget it. No one, I mean no one messes with my little brother."

After his declaration, Alfred let Gilbert fall to the ground before carefully handing the book to Matthew. It was the one he had given his twin for Christmas many years ago. As he gently placed a shoulder around Matthew and began to guide him out, Alfred turned to the other nations that had gathered to watch the spectacle.

"We'll continue this meeting tomorrow. I'm taking Matthew home now." Before anyone could protest, they were out the door.

"Thank you, Alfred," said Matthew quietly once they were in the car.

Alfred grinned widely at his twin. "No problem, Mattie! No one picks on my little brother but me!"

Matthew just sighed again, but he was smiling too.
