We were given a prompt in class, and were given ten minutes to write. This is what came out of those ten minutes, and I liked it enough. Enjoy. :]

"The city lights seemed to burn like a thousand miles of fire."

Sitting in a window seat on an airplane, the city lights seemed to burn like a thousand miles of fire. The quick blue eyes, darting from the outside in and back, seemed anxious almost, maybe even fearful. Messy, shoulder-length blond hair covered up parts of his face and eyes, having not a trim in months. The sweaty palms gripped the edges of the seat, sometimes coming up to do some duty, or do a nervous tap, but always back down. Then suddenly, the window alit by bright red lights was no longer, but instead by the white of the runway, to light the way in the dark for the plane.

Then everything else was a blur. Standing up, grabbing his only baggage, a backpack, getting off, going through security, and everything else. It all seemed too long, but too fast, and tonight the butterflies were having a ball. Yet soon, the clear doors, separating those boarding and those left behind or anxiously waiting, came into view. A few more seconds, and there they were, standing, five faces, lost in a sea of their own.

He let the first wave that was with him come through first. Some ran, some cried, some just didn't care. As it thinned out, he finally joined in and walked through the doors. The five waiting for him were all overjoyed. Four greeted him like they haven't seen him in years, when really it was only three months. As the initial greeting was over, they all backed off, knowing the only person left wanted to talk, but felt like they couldn't.

The man that just got off the plane smiled. The relief was on his face. No matter how anxious of fearful he was it seemed to evaporate all at once at the sight of the other. The same long green hair, the same face, and the same bright laughing green eyes greeted him. Nothing had changed. He almost wanted to give a sigh of relief. The other stepped forward, smiled, and said,

"Hyoga," the green eyes laughed at the "first time" like greeting.

"Shun," Hyoga smiled back. No, nothing had changed, and he was most definitely back.
