This is a little one shot that was roaming in my mind for a little while and I've finally sat down to write it, so here goes.
Disclaimer: Do not own Harry Potter or Draco Malfoy even if I wanted to. However I do own Tanit.
Missing
During the course of his life Draco Malfoy knew that something was missing. He didn't know what it was, but he knew it was something important. It wasn't parents, he already had them. It wasn't money either, he had plenty of it. It wasn't love, he had made sure of it when he got married to Astoria Greengrass. It wasn't not having friends, he had a good friend, Theodore Nott, who he thought as an equal. So what was he missing if he had everything in life? He did not know the answer.
It was a cold, grey, dull, November day when he found out. It happened to be the funeral of Lucius Malfoy, who as his father before him, had died of a severe case of dragon pox. His mother had cried all through the service, but he hadn't. In fact he hadn't cried for several years, since his sixth year at Hogwarts to be exact. He didn't find it necessary at all, because, in his opinion, if somebody cried they were weak, and he, Draco Malfoy was not weak.
After the service many people came up to him to offer their condolences, even Harry Potter had gone, but he informed Draco that it was only because Narcissa had saved his life in the final battle, and that he cared less that Lucius had died. Draco actually understood.
Morning soon turned into afternoon. Draco was standing in front of his father's grave lost in his thoughts when someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around to find a woman of about his own age standing in front of him. She was petite, with long, light blonde hair and blue-grey eyes. Draco didn't fail to notice that she was very beautiful.
"I just wanted to say that I am very sorry about your loss Mr Malfoy and I really can't imagine the pain that you are going through right now, it must be terrible" She said.
"Thank you" Draco said "and yes, the pain is quite terrible but I know that it will disappear someday" he had said that line so many times now that it had lost its true meaning.
"That type of pain does not go away Mr. Malfoy" the girl said. Draco could just agree.
"I guess you are right miss…"
"Rosier. Tanit Rosier"
"Nice to meet you Miss Rosier"
Tanit just smiled, nodded her head and turned away. Draco could not help being intrigued by that woman. It was like he had already met her but didn't know when.
A week later Draco was looking at old photo album he had found in his father's study. He flipped through the pages not even bothering to identify the people that were in the photos until one caught his eye. He pulled it out of the album and stared at it. The photo showed two children one boy and one girl with their arms around each other, smiling. Draco recognised the boy as himself and saw something strangely familiar in the girl. He flipped the photo over. There is his mother's elegant handwriting was written:
Draco and Tanit Malfoy's 10th birthday
June 5th 1990
It was her, the girl that he had met at the funeral. Tanit Rosier. Now he knew why she seemed so familiar. The memories came flooding back to him fifteen years after they had been removed. Draco had finally discovered what he had been missing. His sister.
