Best friends are wonderful, aren't they? This was fun. (Forgive me the Advent Children quote, I've watched the movie three times in the past two days and just couldn't help it.)

"Hey...Riku?"

"Yeah, Sora?"

"I have...a question for you," Sora said hesitantly.

Riku smiled up at the star-speckled sky. "And I have an answer."

"Like always. That's why I came to you," he grinned feebly.

"Well?" Riku prompted.

"It's...about you and Cloud. Y-you don't have to answer, it's probably too personal. I just—"

"Just ask, Sor." Riku grinned a little, a familiar and welcome warmth spreading through him at the thought of his lover.

The brunet took a breath and dug his toes into the sand. "How did you know that he...that you two...that you were ready to—"

"Be intimate? With him?" Riku raised an eyebrow slightly, though his smile did not wane. "Hm. Well, it's not too complicated. You love Kairi, don't you?"

"With all my heart," Sora said earnestly, clasping his hands in his lap.

"And she's always loved you; that's one part taken care of. You trust each other..."

"We all have, always," Sora nodded, poking his best friend's side meaningfully.

Riku's eyes saddened subtly. He quickly pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind—now was not the time—and fixed Sora with a measuring look. "And I'm assuming, since you're asking, you want to be with her..."

The brunet blushed. "Well, yeah..."

"Then you have nothing to worry about. Just...let things happen when they happen. You'll know when it's right." He smiled encouragingly at his younger friend, then regarded him slyly. "So...have you kissed her?"

"Twice." Sora grinned. "Well...actually, the first time, she kissed me," he added shyly.

Riku laughed. "That's Kairi." He laid back on the warm sand, folding his hands over his ribs. Sora followed suit, and they stared at the sparkling heavens for a while.

"Actually," Riku mused, gazing at a particularly bright star, "I think Cloud and I went about things a little backwards. We kinda started with the 'lust' part...and the trust and love came a little later."

"Really?"

"Yeah...it sounds so cliché, but I really couldn't take my eyes off of him. Still can't," he admitted, smiling softly.

Sora hummed quietly in agreement. "Kairi's always been pretty, but now..." his voice trailed off, and he shifted his eyes to the moon. After a few minutes, he spoke again. "So...what's he like?"

"Sora!"

"What?" Sora grinned mischievously.

"That's none of your business, that's what." Riku glared weakly, though his eyes were shining with laughter and temptation.

"Oh, c'mon."

Riku bit his lip. "One thing. I'll tell you one thing."

Sora's eyelids lowered as Riku leaned over to whisper in his ear for a long moment, and when the silver-haired man pulled back, Sora looked shellshocked.

Riku laughed lightly and poked him. "You okay, Sor?"

Bright blue eyes slowly turned up to stare at him incredulously. "No way."

"Yeah."

"No way!"

"Yup." Riku chewed on his lower lip again to hold back his grin.

"Wow."

"Yeah, wow."

"...Riku?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I ask another question?"
