"This is the way you left me, I'm not pretending"
Pieces. She had handed him back his heart and he had had to cup his hands together to prevent the pieces from falling to the floor. They had tried their hardest to work it out, they really had, but they were too different –no, their families were too different. His father and her parents had never been on good terms since the start of their own years at Hogwarts and their strong bitterness for one another had not subsided.
He had pleaded, begged, her to try and stick it out even if it made their parents upset –he had told her that he did not care what his dad thought, that he loved her and nothing would get in the way of that. She had not been ready to make the same sacrifices for him, though –she had told him that her family meant too much to her to make them unhappy. What? Had she thought that his love for his parents was not as strong as her love for hers? Had she not realized the pain that he would have willingly put his father and himself through just to make it work with her?
So she loved her parents. Where did that leave him?
That left him with a shattered heart that was beyond the point of ever being truly mended. With a heart that broke a little bit more every time his ears heard her voice or his eyes saw her smile.
"No hope, no love, no glory, no happy ending"
For awhile there, he had thought that she was not really done with him, that she would come running right back into his open arms. He had been wrong, dead wrong. Rose moved on less than a year after their break up –now she was with that Scamander brother, Lorcan.
How could she do that to him? Did she not understand the massive amount of pain that he felt every time he saw them kiss, hug, or hold hands? Did she not know how broken she had left him –that only she could put the pieces back together? Did she even care? Scorpius liked to believe that she cared, that this Lorcan thing was just a façade, but he knew better than that. He knew that those smiles were real, that those kisses had real passion behind them, that she loved that bloody Scamander twin.
"This is the way we love, like it's forever"
"You're too young to be in love." "You don't even have the slightest clue what love is." Those were the words that constantly filled his ears –he had learned to tune them out, though. He didn't care if other people thought that he wasn't in love with Rose –all that mattered to him was that she knew how he had felt and still felt about her. Scorpius loved her for everything that she was –her quirks, imperfections, and perfections. He was among the small amount of extremely lucky people who could truly claim to know what Cupid's arrow felt like.
"Then live the rest of our lives, but not together"
How was he suppose to go on without her? To live and be happy? He couldn't do it, not because he didn't want to, but because he was not able. How could he have a happy ending when Rose was the only person who possessed the glue that could stick his heart back together again?
