I couldn't have done it without you
It had been a little over a year since Connie's car had driven off a cliff in Holby, the same day that Charlie's 30th anniversary party had been thrown to celebrate his service to the NHS. It had felt like the longest years of Connie Beauchamp's life and there were times when she doubted her ability to get through it, but she had done it.
As her and Jacob lay on the sofa in the home which they now lived in together, since Connie's injuries from the crash had left her incapable of doing things for herself for months, so Jacob had left his job to care for Connie full-time, they watched one of Connie's favourite movies; the theory of everything.
Connie had spent so much time watching TV and movies over the past year that she was eager to do something more active, and during the day she would often go for walks with Jacob, or they would go swimming at the local leisure centre. Connie wasn't yet physically ready to return to work, but for financial purposes Jacob would be returning to Holby City ED to continue being an emergency nurse, rather than only nursing Connie, who was now able to look after herself.
"I'm so proud of you, you know." Jacob mindlessly played with Connie's long, brunette locks as they watched the movie on their flat screen TV. "For getting through this past year."
"I couldn't have done it without you."
Connie's body was almost fully recovered, despite the fact that nightmares still haunted her dreams at least 3 times a week, but she was still not ready to return to work, a fact that annoyed her. After months of physical therapy and therapy with a psychiatrist, who she continued to see on a fortnightly basis, she knew that she would never completely forget the events of the last summer, but she would eventually be able to move on with her life and start again.
She just wished Grace had survived.
Just got my GCSE results today and they were pretty good. Almost due to start college now, so I wanted to upload things before I start the new school so that at least my account wasn't completely abandoned. I hope to upload more chapters of my regular fics before returning as well.
Hope you enjoyed this, even though it was very short and the ending was sort of heartbreaking.
