Niklaren Goldeye ruffled through a shelf of books.
"Sir, what are you looking for?" asked one of the temples dedicates.
"A book on strange magic," he replied.
The dedicate climbed up another ladder and joined Niko on one of the highest shelves.
"You could try finding Dedicate Dragonfire. He borrowed a series of strange books a few years ago and I don't think he ever returned them," The young looking library dedicate explained.
Niko paused in his search for books and looked at the librarian.
"Who is Dedicate Dragonfire?" Niko asked in a surprised voice.
The young library dedicate climbed down his ladder and rummaged through one of the boxes marked private. The dedicate pulled out a key and waited for Niko to climb down.
"Dedicate Dragonfire may have died seven or eight years ago," the library dedicate explained handing over the key.
"May have died?" Niko stated.
The librarian blushed and scratched the back of his head, "They could not tell if he was dead or not."
Niko frowned and allowed the librarian to lead him out of the library and down the hall. The librarian stopped out the front of a room and shivered.
"It is cold here," Niko heard the young man say.
Niko unlocked the room's door and as if swung open the librarian left. Niko took note of the librarian's departure and lead by curiosity he entered the room. Located in the centre of the room was a glass sculpture that encased a man.
"James Dragonfire was my older brother," said a voice that Niko recognised as Dedicate Skyfire.
Niko looked at the other man who was in the room. Skyfire walked up to the sculpture and touched it gently.
"He had taken a student with ambient ice magic. She was as powerful as one of your young students and no one had ever seen ice magic before. She gained some control of her magic and the council discussed the appropriate age to give her a medallion. No one noticed that she was having trouble with one part of her studies, because she was so fabulous. One thing led to another and she accidentally turned her teacher into an ice statue," Skyfire explained.
Niko nodded and went to Dragonfire's desk. On it had a book with the title 'Magic of life and death' and beside it was a small framed portrait of Skyfire and Dragonfire.
"What happened to the girl?" Niko asked picking up the large book.
"She was traumatised, so it was decided that she would complete her studies at Lightsbridge," Skyfire said in a sad voice.
