Will walked inside room 115 and sat down at his desk in the front row. his first grade teacher's name was Mrs. Flowers. she was a very nice teacher and she always came up with fun projects for the class to do. as a little boy Will had some freckles on his face and his hair was kind of bushy.
"Okay class, today we are going to plant lima beans." Mrs. Flowers explained.
Oh no. Will thought. he hated when he had to plant things because he wasn't good at it, it would take forever just for his plants to grow. the teacher gave each of the students three Lima beans to plant. she gave them a flower pot and soil.
"In order for are plants to live longer we need to give them a lot tender, love and care." Mrs. Flowers explained.
Thirty seconds later a student was finished.
"Mrs. Flowers, I'm finished." The student said.
"Very good Layla, my oh my you are really good with plants." Mrs. Flowers told her impressed.
Will turned to the red head girl. he still coulden't figure out how her plants grew so fast.
As a little girl, Layla had two missing baby teeth, some cute little freckles on her face and always wore shades of green.
"Layla you can put your plant on the window sill now, for some sunlight." Mrs. Flowers explained.
"Thanks Mrs. Flowers." Layla said as she then went to the window with her plant.
Will was so frustrated and confused.
"She's already finished? I don't get this at all, she finished in thirty seconds." Will told himself.
He wanted to know Layla's secret, he had to know how she could grow plants so fast. the boys in Will's class thought that girls were gross and had cooties. Will didn't like girls that much either, he didn't even like being kissed on the cheeks by his own mom.
Will sighed then walked up to Layla.
"How did you do that?" he asked her.
Layla turned to him.
"Do what?" she asked not knowing what he was talking about.
"I mean how did you grow those Lima beans so fast?" Will asked.
Layla was use to Will being curios by now. every time they did plant projects Will always wanted to know Layla's secret.
Today Layla took pitty on him and dicided to tell him.
"Well I have plant powers, I can grow and communicate with plants." Layla explained.
"Well that was amazing." Will said.
Layla smiled. "Thanks."
Will knew that he didn't have many friends and that if he were friends with a girl, kids would tease him saying that she's his girlfriend and stuff. but for some reason Will didn't care anymore.
Cant boys and girls be friends? Will thought to himself.
"Uh Layla, I was wondering if maybe you would like to be my fr, if you would like to be my friend?" Will finally said.
Layla smiled, nobody had ever really wanted to be her friend before, everyone thought she was strange because of her different nature.
"Sure." she answered smiling.
Will smiled too.
When the lunch Bell rang her and Will walked out of the classroom together holding hands. ever since that day Will and Layla have been best friends ever since.
