Introduction
Sarah, a 13 year old girl who knows nothing of the outside world. That's me. All my life, I, along with my now 9 year old sister Melanie, have been trapped in the Lucky Hospital, downtown Lucksin. We were born in the country, outside of Seattle, but our mom died, and our dad ended up in the hospital. We had no family, so we came with him, and never left. They experimented on us, because our dad was deluded and said they could. We were always in the OR, getting something done. When I was 5, there was a really bad storm, and my dad managed to escape. He couldn't find us. Now, we're still here, waiting for him to return to get us.
Chapter 1
I glanced over my shoulder at Melanie, who was trying not to trip over anything in the dark, cold, shadowed hallway. "Hurry up!" I hissed at her, not wanting to be caught trying to sneak out of the building. We had made a clean break a few times before, but, about a year ago, we were caught creeping out of our room. This was the first time we had tried sneaking out since that night. I didn't want to be caught this time.
Melanie made a face at me and then whispered back. "Sorry if they haven't made my eyes glow like yours." That was almost true. They wanted to see how enhanced somebody's night vision could be, so they tested it out on me. Now, I can see way better then the average person can in daylight. But, my eyes don't glow. Not yet anyway.
