Hannah Johnston was living happily in the Capitol until one day everything changed. With her mother accused of treason against the Capitol, Hannah is sent off to District 12 to start her new life. But just as she starts getting her life together again, the reaping threatens to destroy what little she has built up.

The Hungry Games

Every year a girl and a boy are chosen from each district. They are placed in an arena where they must all kill or be killed, fighting to the death until only one of the twenty-four tributes remains standing. The Capitol is the leader of all the districts and is the one that enforces this activity, they don't take part but they all watch and enjoy the entertainment it provides. It is known as The Hungry Games.

Just one week ago I lived in the Capitol, filled with food, fun, and fortune. My mother was accused of treason so now I am on a train to District Twelve, I have no idea what to expect. In two weeks, The Hungry Games will commence. I wish I could watch it with my friends but at least I can have a fresh start in District twelve. New house, new friends, and a new life.

But I'm not totally oblivious, I understand that the people in the districts have harder lives than I did in the Capitol, no flat screens, no iPod or iPad, and no fancy Dim Sim places around town. But I'll push through, I have no choice.
