The headline read, "Christmas vandals hit again, police have no leads." The crimes seemed localized to outdoor Christmas decorations. The town blamed local teens. Dean had another theory.
"Dean, you're not serious."
"Look, you saw it. One of those red-hatted freaks was in front of every home vandalized."
"Yeah, I know, but that's just a coincidence. Isn't it?"
"Since when is it that easy for us, Sammy?"
"Good point."
That night consisted of a secret scavenger hunt and a salty bonfire.
The next morning's headline read, "Garden gnomes stolen." But the neighborhood's Christmas decorations were safe for one more year.
