Smile, Little Lily.
Lily sighed irritated and narrowed her eyes - she had been staring at the boy in front of her for at least fifteen minutes. She could win that bet, had to win that bet. She didn't know what would be the prize to give Potter. She wanted to be assured.
James Potter has to lose. For once in his life he must lose. It was not possible to exist someone who was good in everything. That was annoying and disturbing. Could she make James Potter feel like a loser at least once? To take that stupid smile off his face.
"Give up, Lily Evans" asked James while he was standing off his elbow on the table and gave a large smile to the redhead. "You know you want it."
"I know nothing" said the gryffindor contradicted. "You know I will win this time."
"I know nothing" answered James with a sly smile. Lily twitched her lips and blinked lingeringly to not see the expression of the boy. James pointed to Lily. "Almost, Evans, almost..."
"Bite me! Something got into in my eye" she quickly spoke while pretending to be scratching her eye. "Damn it, I think you spat..."
"In your eye? I don't think so, Lily... I don't think so..."
"It's Evans" spoke Lily in a bad mood. James shrugged.
"And it will be Potter when we get married." Lily shook the legs impatiently. "Come on, Lily, you know you are almost there."
"I'VE ALREADY SAID I AM NOT." Screaming Lily attracted the attention of a large public in the Common Room. Sirius - who was chatting with Marlene - looked at James and started laughing. He did a positive sign to his friend and returned to talk to the girl.
"Lily Evans Potter... Can you imagine?" James blinked, a mischievous smile in the corner of his lips. "You must be so beautiful in a white dress. You know my mom will want to embroider it."
"Does your mommy know how to embroider?" Asked Lily felling ashamed.
"Like nobody else, but perhaps you can beat her... OH! ALMOST AGAIN!" James ran his fingers through his hair and gave her a smile.
"Give up, Potter. Admit. You lost." Lily drumming her fingers on the table.
James bended close to Lily making her blush. A wicked smile illuminated all his face.
"And admit I lost? Never."
It was stronger than Lily. In the next second the redhead gave a simple smile, but she didn't escape from the careful eyes of James Potter.
The boy pointed to the face of his opponent and clapped hands.
"I won" James smiled triumphantly and got up, making a victory dance.
Lily rolled her eyes and snorted nervously.
"Very well, tell me what do you want as a prize, for that to be quick and less painful. Do you want me to go out with you? A kiss? One day of slavery? Come on Potter, I don't have all night."
James bended and before Lily could do something, he gave her a kiss on her forehead.
"I've already won my prize... your smile."
Lily widened her eyes and stayed for a few minutes watching James go sit with Sirius across the Common Room. The boy gestured excited making his friend laugh.
Maybe if the boy was looking, James would have seen a second smile illuminated Lily's face.
A smile conquered by the marauder.
