A PRECIOUS MOMENT
My first AtLA story, quite proud of it. Just a little family scene featuring Hakoda, Kya, baby Katara and Sokka.

The sun had just risen at the Southern Water Tribe and all was quiet, except for the sound of a baby crying. "Kya…she's…she's beautiful. What shall we call her?" Hakoda, the chief asked his wife. "Katara. Her name is Katara." she answered as she stared at her daughter. "Katara, Princess Katara," Hakoda whispered, then said louder, "Bring in Sokka."
As soon as he said that a young boy came in, his blue eyes looking at the bundle in his mother's arms. "What's that?" he asked, pointing at Katara, who was blowing bubbles. "This is your baby sister, Katara." Kya said, chuckling.
"It is?" sokka asked, confused. "Yes and I want you to always protect her and love her. Can you promise me that?" his mother asked, her blue eyes soft. Sokka gulped loudly but nodded his head. "Yes mother." Kya smiled, "That's my boy." She kissed his forehead.
"Kya? Mother and the tribe had asked to see you two tomorrow. Will it ok?" Hakoda had re-entered the room. "Ah yes. It will be nice for Kanna to see her only granddaughter." Kya said, smiling. She then noticed her husband staring at his daughter. "Would you like to hold her?" she asked gently.
"No I…I may drop her." He shook his head.
"Don't be silly. Here take her." Kya insisted, handing him the baby. "She's…so small…" he cradled her close to his chest.
"Dad? Can we go now? I'm hungry." Sokka whined. "Of course son. See you in the morning." The Chief kissed his wife on the forehead and left. Kya watched her husband leave then turned her attention back to her infant, who was beginning to fuss. "Shh, shh, there, there stop your crying. Come stop your crying, it'll be alright. Just take my hand, hold it tight. I will protect you from all around you. I will be here don't you cry. Cause you'll be in my heart, no matter what they say, you'll be here in my heart. Always…" Kya's soothing song had put Katara to sleep.
Well…? I used Phil Collins 'I'll be your heart' for the lullaby Kya sings to Katara. What ch'ya think? Good? Bad? If I get enough reviews I may even write a Ozai, Ursa, Zuko and Azula fanfic. Thanks for reading, peace out.
