Sometimes the only way to stop the tears is to hold him. Nico pretends like he doesn't like being touched, and he doesn't, but not because he doesn't like it. Nico craves physical contact, but he doesn't like getting close to people because he's convinced they'll hurt him one day, leave him one day.
Jason was determined to get Nico to open up to him though, and eventually, after a year, he did.
He had known Nico di Angelo for almost exactly twelve months when he first saw him cry, he holds him in his lap and rocks him back and forth and listens to his sob filled words, laced with so much pain and loneliness and betrayal that Jason starts to cry too.
He had known Nico di Angelo for thirteen months, had looked into his heart and seen how alone and vulnerable he was, when he fell in love with him. It was wrong, he knew. Nico was in love with Percy, Percy was the reason he cried all the time, Percy was the reason he got threw Tartarus, Percy was the one he admired, who he looked up too, who he longed for. It wasn't right, he needs a friend, you're his friend, he would tell himself.
And he had known Nico di Angelo for fourteen months, two weeks, and three days when his feelings were returned and he and Nico got together. Nico had looked up at him; eyes red rimmed, cheeks tear stained and had kissed him hard on the lips, letting out a sob into his mouth. Jason had kissed back, and it seemed to have gotten better then, Nico no longer cried, he hardly ever got nightmares anymore.
Jason would always remember the nights he spent with the crying Ghost King in his arms, never wanting to let him go, wanting to protect him from everyone and anything that dared ever to harm him. It didn't matter that Nico was quite capable of taking care of himself, Nico was his, and he always took care of his things.
Now those cuddles that had been filled with tears and sobs and lonely words, are exchanged with happy cuddles. Nico loves it when Jason touches him know, he's so touch starved, but Jason indulges him happily, every morning, no matter what the day, what they have to do, no matter the time he gets up, no matter late or early he will always hold Nico in his arms until Nico makes the move to get up.
If he's late to his camp duties or coaching sword fighting, he doesn't care. He feels guilty of course, but holding Nico, making sure that the son of hades knows he's loved, will always be more important.
But sometimes, Nico does cry, not because of Percy, not because he's scared of being who he is, sometimes Nico just gets sad, the depression and lost in his life catches up with him and he cries.
The children of Hades aren't emotionless, far from it, they might actually be the demigods who care and love the most.
He walks into the Hades cabin to grab Nico for dinner when he sees his boyfriend sitting on his bed, crying.
Jason kicks off his shoes and does what he does best. He crawled into bed and held Nico gently by the waist, guiding him down into a laying position; Nico rolls in his arms and barriers his face into Jason's collarbone.
Jason rubs his hands over Nico's back, warming the cold skin up, kissing the grayish white forehead sadly, he wish he could do more than cuddle the pain away, but that's all he can do, so he settles for it.
Jason promises himself that no matter what, he'll always be there to chase the pain away with his cuddles.
And when he looks down at Nico's thin face, cupids bow mouth trembling, eyes filled with need and pain and desperation, he knows keeping that promise will always be worth it.
