It was his brithday.
Or he just said it was.
Almost every three months Dumbledore would announce his 88th birthday by scaring everyone to death in the staffroom by suddenly banging the door open and screaming "PICKABOO!"
The reason for this strange,odd,peculiar behavior is not known, but we can just say that he was gay.
He celebrated his birthday with full enthusiasm, the over bright scary twinkle of his eyes growing brighter, just to ignite his hopes for the best gift in the world-
A Pair Of Glittering Socks.
He could have always used other means to get what he wanted, and avoid spending so much of Golden Coins(what were they called...ummm...O_o) on monthly b'day celebrations but he liked it this way. It was safer. Reason unknown. A Mystery.
(Well, there is nothing BIG to hide. Last year, he was almost caught by Snape, stealing his icy-pink colored Glittering socks. It was hard to get out of Snape's suspicion, or maybe he just suspected, like everyone, that Dumbledore was gay.)
The Glittering Socks were Dumbledore's first crush.(OK, the socks weren't gay.) He was always broke, spending his money gambling on trolls or drinking away with 'Pointy" the hat and Muffles, his secret teddy , now who says brainy gay people don't know how to drink? Ummm well, Dumbledore knew anyhow.
Oh, how awful the days were, full of pain, with just 31241 trophies to look at and no socks to sympathize. SAD.
Dumbledore now blinked,the memories of the dark past hovering above him. He put "Pointy" the hat over his head, stuffed Muffles in his pants, and tied his white wispy beard with a bow. He gave himself a last look in the mirror and noticed his eyes were twinkling much much much MUCH more than usual. An Omen.
He did the "shake the booty" dance for the last time, and left for the staff room for the special night.
Yes, THIS WAS A SPECIAL NIGHT.
The party provided chocolate cake.
