It's been over a year since the defeat of Ultimecia. State of times were restored and peace settled across the nation for years. Even the conflict between Galbadia and Timber had been put aside. All the sorceress power had been contained by a young heroine that helped end the threat. However, power corrupts and leads to greed and the desire for more. Even the purest of hearts can't keep that voice from beckoning, not even Rinoa's. Due to her low control of the power and the swift speed of her accumulating them, it didn't take long for her to be overcome by temptation of having power and using it to manipulate and rule others. The commander of SeeD, Squall Leonhart was torn between staying by the side of the woman he loved or his duty. He chose Rinoa, keeping the promise that if she were to become the world's greatest enemy, he'd still be her knight. With the SeeD having no commander there seemed to be nothing to resist Rinoa's threat. However, there was still hope, hiding in the chaos of the Garden. A girl. With sorceress powers that no one had ever discovered.
Her name was Grace. An exceptionally brilliant student but managed to keep herself to herself, never being noticed and was able to remain hidden in the shadows. Having gained her sorceress powers at a young age she was able to handle and control them very quickly, so that no others suspected she may have magic powers beyond the usual Junction system. This is why she had chosen Balamb Garden to either of the other Gardens. She had heard of the Sorceress War and how people were weary of the power they possessed and had decided to remain inconspicuous.
Due to unfortunate circumstances Grace had arrived at Garden at the age of five. She had opted out of training to be a SeeD due to their main objective, to kill the Sorceress. Her training was intense, taking preference to melee fighting to became one of the most skilled sword artists in the Garden by the time she was 15. Agility was her key skill, attacking quickly and precisely to defeat her foes. Grace was 18 now and still one of the best, she was fighting in the Training Centre when she had heard of the Commander's desertion and Rinoa's corruption. The Garden had gone into chaos similar to NORG had called for SeeD to be captured to show loyalty to the Sorceress. Rinoa had used her Limit Angel Wing to try to keep some stray monsters from invading the Garden. Her limit, already unstable due to her lack of control, caused her to become blind as to which was foe and which was ally and started attacking the students that had accompanied her. Squall quickly heard of Rinoa's battle and managed to calm her down. However, Rinoa hadn't retained her control and fled towards Galbadia, where the Garden had resided, with Squall closely at her heel. The Garden remained in disarray for those next few days while Rinoa had forced her way through the city, forcing General Caraway into submitting his army, barely recognising the man who was her father. The news of Rinoa's suddenly ascension attempt had quickly spread and forces were being positioned in case of an attack, even with the knowledge that any attack from a Sorceress would wipe them out completely.
With Squall loyal to Rinoa there seemed no hope. With everyone believing that Rinoa was the last sorceress in existing in this time, hope that she could be overpowered was diminishing. Grace would now have to reveal have true powers to the entire world and use them in order to save the sorceress once pure
