I do not own FMA. Enjoy!

Having and keeping secrets were some of the things that Roy Mustang excelled at. He had enough secrets to last him a lifetime, his own ranging from mildly insignificant to extremely important. There was one secret, though, that had never exactly been categorized. If Roy had to guess, though, he'd say that it was one of the more important secrets that he kept. If this secret was ever revealed, especially to the wrong people, it would be used against him and the other person involved.

The secret was the fact that Roy was absolutely and completely in love with Riza Hawkeye.

Roy wasn't sure if Riza knew about this secret. There were times, moments between them that seemed ever so fleeting, that Roy sure that she did. Then, as quick as a blink, he would doubt his certainty and would finally just try to put it out of his mind until the next day. The constant wonder drove him borderline crazy and he finally resolved to find out once and for all.

"Riza," Roy began, breaking the silence that had fallen between them. "Can you keep a secret?"

Riza, who was sitting at her desk, looked up, slightly surprised at the use of her first name, despite that they were alone.

"Of course," Riza replied.

Roy smiled and made his way over to Riza. Bending slightly so that they were face to face, Roy slightly lifted Riza's chin with a bent pointer finger, observing the questioning look in her eyes. Then, he kissed her. It was short but meaningful and Roy hoped that the latter would show through. When the kiss was broken, Roy could see that the questioning look in Riza's eyes was replaced with a look of surprise that had a hint, he couldn't help but notice, of a pleased glimmer in it.

"Don't tell anyone but I love you," Roy said, giving her a grin.

Riza matched his grin, the pleased look now glimmering more intensely in her eyes.

"That's not a secret, sir."
