His Queen

"Oh, yes, what if he's posing as the king of a lost mountain tribe and he wants me for his Queen?"

"Nikola, how are you?" Helen asked entering the infirmary.

Nikola lay in one of the beds. When he heard her he turned around and smiled at her.

"What?" She asked when she stopped next to his bed.

"You know...I'm starting to like these children of yours."

"What did they do?"

"That annoying Protégé of yours, Huggybear, he told me about your little chat with him before you left to well, help me out."

Helen swallowed hard. Please didn't tell him that-

"I didn't know that you were thinking about becoming my Queen- even if only for a lost mountain tribe." Nikola smirked wide.

"I'll kill him." Helen mumbled before she sighed heavily.

"This wasn't meant to reach you. I just wanted to make my point clear to Will- what I did... He doesn't really like you, you know? He would have let you died down there."

"Yeah, I figured that but then I don't care about the children, Helen." Nikola said and looked more serious suddenly, "Thank you for not letting me down in that cave."

"Can't let down my king, can I?" Helen ginned at him.

She hadn't meant to say that but she just couldn't help herself. It had been out before she had the time to think about it again.

Nikola looked at her in deep surprise. Not because of what she'd just said but because of the way she had done so. There hadn't been any sarcasm, irony or any other undertones in her voice. Soon her grin faded and locked her eyes with his. Something had changed between them.

"You have always been my Queen, Helen. From the very first day on." Nikola said silently.

Suddenly, Helen lips were crushed to his in an almost desperate kiss. Seconds later they parted again. They looked at each other both halfway shocked about what just happened.

"What just-" Helen started but stopped when she saw the huge smile on Nikolas face.

"You kissed me- desperately. Why? Not that I mind."

"I'm not sure...actually. I just heard what you said and...it felt like the right thing to do..." Helen managed to say almost shy.

Before she knew it she felt his lips back on hers and without hesitating she kissed back.

"You were right. It does feel like the right thing to do." Nikola smirked widely when they broke apart once again.

"Cheeky." Helen smiled, "I better go now."

"Aw, already? But there's no fun in that." He sounded almost whiny.

"I'm glad you haven't lost your touch, Nikola. Still, you need to rest and I have business to deal with as well."

He was pouting but gave in. After all, he knew that she always had work to do. Helen went to the door and stopped there looking back at him.

"I'll be here, waiting for you, my Queen."

She shook her head smiling and left. It wasn't a bad feeling to be his Queen after all...
