Round 'n round
Carousel
Has got you under it's spell
Moving so fast...but
Going nowhere

She walked up to the beautiful carousel, looking around for their spot. She saw the 'love seat' that looked as if the very gold of Heaven had been sculpted into the scenes of dancing angels. Oh how she love this spot. She sat down, and waited for the ride to start. In a blur of lights and dancing animals, she recalled the last time they had ridden this together.

It had been their last date, the day she would never remember, but strive to forget. The evening had been perfect; such sweet moments were so hard to come by. But yet he had been the perfect man, perfect gentlemen.

The swirls of color slowed, and laughter had faded into simple murmurs. She stood and walked towards the cotton candy vender. One blue explosion to share, she recalled. Now it was a solo blue swirl. Following the same path they had that night, she walked to the Ferris wheel. The man took her ticket. " No partner for the lady? Shame." He said shaking his head, and closing the bar over her lap.

The man became smaller as she rode up to the heavens. She looked down and noted the same way the people happily walked about, not a care in the world. The stars seemed to mock her pain, sparkling and winking at one another.

Up 'n down
Ferris wheel
Tell me how does it feel
To be so high...
Looking down here

She couldn't help but feel the tears readying themselves for the descent. How she missed him, her one true reason for her happiness, her very reason to breath.

The ride came to an end, and she wiped the tears fiercely away, willing her face not to display her pain. The man looked at her all to knowingly, smiled and nodded his head. Pity, one thing she didn't want.

She walked to an unknown destination, her steps taking her where they traveled every time this year. As if the gods had not put her through enough pain, they put a loving couple right in front of her. The young man held the girl close; he looked down at her and whispered sweet nothings, causing her to laugh. Oh how she missed his jokes, his ability to make her laugh easily. But now, no sweet innocent laughs shared. Nothing.

Did the clown
Make you smile
He was only your fool for a while
Now he's gone back home
And left you wandering there

What did she do to deserve to lose her Ron? Her sweet, funny Ron? "Oh Ron, why did you have to die?" she whispered, tears unconsciously staining her cheeks. " Why did you have to leave me? I loved you, Ron, I truly did."

She walked silently crying until a man with a big bear asked her if she was all right. She looked at the man, and tried to smile. She thanked him for his concern and walked on.

Was she ok? Ha! Could you be ok when your soul died years ago? When your heart was shattered into millions of pieces on some battlefield, only known for the fall of evil? No, you couldn't possibly be ok. You are unbearably lonely. Not quite dead, but defiantly not living. Just Lonely, simply lonely.

Is it lonely?

Authors Note:

My fellow fanfictioners,

I am sorry for such a sad story, but I love that song (Carnival Town by Norah Jones) and that was what came to mind. If you didn't get it, Ron died in the final battle, and Hermione still mourns his death.

I don't own the song, or the Harry Potter story.

Your humble and obedient author,

The Eloquent Quill
