(Rose's POV)

"Roza, don't do this! You can't leave. Lissa needs you!" There was a pause before Dimitri added, "I need you Roza! Please stay, for me." I stood there in shock. Dimitri has ignored me for the past month, ever since Lissa changed him back into a dhamphir with her Spirit magic. I'm the one who tried to find him and save him in the first place. And who does he thank? Lissa, my best friend, my confidant. I recently found out from Christian, Lissa's ex boyfriend, that Lissa and Dimitri slept together. How could she? She knew how I felt about him. Anyways, back to the present. This is the note i left to all of my friends and family, and even to Guardian Petrov and to the academy and the royal court. "I am writing to you all to inform you that I quit. I quit being a guardian. I quit all of this. I am leaving in the morning and I hope you all have enough sense to know that nothing you say will make me stay, so don't even try it. It won't work. Goodbye. ~Rose Hathaway~"

"Dimitri, I'm sorry but I have to go. I can't. I can't take this anymore. Goodbye Dimitri." I walk away with my bags in my hand and board the airplane. I quickly find an empty shelf and seat and I put my bags up on the shelf and take my seat. I sigh sadly as I look out the window and see that Dimitri is still standing there dumbfounded. I kind of feel bad for him, but then I remember that he slept with Lissa and that feeling quickly diminishes into nothingness.

After the long plane ride to New York, Rose headed directly to a bar, her favorite place to be lately. "Lookie what we have here. If it isn't the stunningly sexy Rosemarie Hathaway in the flesh. So, what brings you to this fine establishment?" Rose turned her head and found Adrian Ivashkov sitting beside her. "Why, if it isn't the annoying Adrian Ivashkov." Rose says sarcastically. She sighs softly and downs a shot before looking back to the annoying moroi who's become a pain in her ass lately. "What are you even doing here, Adrian? Are you stalking me?" She asked as he smirked that irritating yet sexy smirk of his. "Me? A stalker? That hurts. You know me, Rose." He says, feigning hurt. Rose just rolls her eyes and orders another shot. "Make it a double." She says to the bartender. Adrain raises his eyebrows slightly. "Woa. Hold on Rose, are you sure you can handle that?" Adrian says with a concerned expression as he puts an arm on her shoulder comfortingly. Rose sighed and shook his arm off of her shoulder before looking over at him. "Of course I can handle it. I can handle anything life throws at me." She smirks, trying to hide her pain from Adrian. Apparently Rose didn't hide it good enough, because Adrian looked at her in that concerned way of his. "Rose, don't lie. I can see right through you." Adrian says in a concerned tone. Rose looked away from his gaze and just sighed, ordering a glass of whiskey. "Wow! Never thought I'd see the day when the infamous Adrian Ivashkov was concerned about something other than alcohol and clove cigarettes." Rose said with a large smirk upon her face. Adrian rolled his eyes at that. He was just about to come up with a remark when an un-wanted visitor came and interrupted them. They both turned and looked to see who it was. "Why if it isn't little miss Rose Hathaway." Jesse Zeklos said with a nasty smirk on his face. "Shut up, Zeklos!" Rose remarked in her usual rude way.
