The Kira investigation was making progress, thanks to Matsuda's incredible blunder. Light couldn't approve of the way L had made Misa cooperate, but hopefully something good would come of it. The Kira of Yotsuba Group would fall… Here came Misa.

"Hey, Light! Are you going to sleep with me tonight?" Misa asked as she ran up the stairs.

"Wh-What? Misa?" Light was dumbfounded. "What are you talking about? I'm sleeping with L tonight!"

Misa's cheer suddenly vanished and the rest of the investigation squad stared at Light as he realized what he had said.

"That's not…" he tried to preempt any comments on his poor choice of words.

He failed. Epically.

"Light? Is there… Could there be something I don't know about?" Misa dreaded the mere thought.

"Yes, Light, tell us all. Is there something we don't know about?" Matsuda snickered.

"Light, if anyone here deserves to know about this, it would be me. I'm your father, after all," the chief cleared his throat.

"No, I believe that would be me," L corrected him. "Really, Light, if there's anything I should know about…"

"But… It isn't… There isn't anything!"

"Come on, Light, tell us! It isn't as if we'd think of you any differently!" Matsuda was the only one who couldn't keep a straight face.

"I might! He's supposed to be my Light!" Misa huffed. "Light! How could you do this to me?"

"But I didn't!"

He was too late. Misa had already stomped away to her room.

"Light? Do I need to have a talk with you after this investigation is over? I think I do. Look how you made that poor girl cry!" the chief shook his head and left.

"I'll leave you two alone," Matsuda exploded with laughter as he left the room.

Mogi looked around and realized that he was the only one remaining. He waved awkwardly and quickly remedied that.

"So, Light, now that they're gone, be honest," L deadpanned. "Did you really plan to ravage me in my sleep tonight?

Light held up his handcuffed arm weakly and put his head down on the table.
