Bliss of Normality

Disclaimer: I do not own the canon characters; they belong to Marvel and Stan Lee, may he rest in peace. Based on the drabble prompt: "Can we just pretend we're normal for once?"

Word Count: 200

In hindsight, the request is not that out of the ordinary. Though, for Tony Stark, the request is insanely complicated.

"Can we just pretend that we're normal for once?" Pepper Potts asks her fiancé as Tony places a golden necklace on the CEO's neck.

"Define 'normal', Pepper," Tony propositions, resting his head on his fiancée's shoulder.

"Okay. We're going out to dinner for our tenth anniversary," Pepper reminds, using her tone of voice she reserves strictly for explaining concepts to Tony. "That means no conference calls, no checking in on Rhodey, no Avengers crisis, and absolutely no using the Iron Man suit," she continues, poking the genius' chest with each condition. "Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, ma'am. Crystal," Tony assures before a smirk appears on his lips. "But what if Agent Coulson decides to…?" he starts to say before Pepper narrows her eyes at him.

"Phil is under direct orders not to interrupt this evening," Pepper explains, a satisfied look on her face that makes Anthony Stark hope he never gets on her bad side.

"God, I can't wait to marry you," Tony happily sighs, passionately kissing Pepper's lips. "I suppose I can be normal for just one night.

Author's Note: And here it is! My first Iron Man themed story! (I thought it was a separate fandom until I went to post this. Well, then...) Pepper X Tony is easily one of my favorite MCU couples, behind only Thor X Jane and they may be tied with Fitzsimmons, actually. I've been wanting to write a separate story with these two for a while, and when I saw this prompt in the drabble bank, I knew I needed to write it for this pairing for the March drabble challenge. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed! As always, reviews are greatly appreciated. Until next time, my dear readers! If you have any prompts you'd like to see of this couple, please let me know. They also feature very prominently in my Christmas Avengers story No Place Like Home for the Holidays. Have an amazing day, afternoon, or night, everyone!
