Gregor the Overlander: Black Death

Chapter One: Where'd You Go?

Gregor's boredom had become contagious, Lizzie, Gregor's eight year-old sister sprawled out across her bed, terribly bored. She already finished the puzzle book she always wanted for Christmas. Boots however, had so much energy to burn. But what do you expect from three year-olds?

"Gregor! Lizzie! Ball!" Boots was happily throwing the ball she loved so dearly against their wall. It was bound to collapse anyway from age.

Gregor wished he could have a nice house like everyone else. Holes, gray spots, and water damage were the only decorations the walls had. It didn't help that it was raining either. To escape from his drab of a living space would be a miracle itself.

"Hey Gregor, I know a place that has better walls, don't you?" Lizzie was clearly up to something.

Yes. Yes he did. How badly Gregor wanted to go to this place. But alas, he couldn't. His mom wouldn't let him. Or Lizzie. Especially not Boots. Although, seeing his friends would shed some light in his life of gray. Besides, his dad didn't care. His dad loved this place. Despite the war and tragedy that he endured down there, Gregor loved the people...and creatures.

"Lizzie, we can't. I wanna go so badly too but, it's too dangerous and Boots-"

"Who said Boots was going? Not me. Can't it just be me and you?" Lizzie had those googily eyes staring at Gregor. How could he say no to those eyes.

"I guess if we're not gone too longfor mom to notice. She is at Wal-Mart right now. Dad's at the hospital with grandma. Mrs. Cormaci is in Hawaii...Aw what the heck, it's boring here anyway." Gregor remarked.

That's exactly what Lizzie wanted to hear. She headed to the kitchen.

"Thanks Gregor! I'm just gonna wrap something up for Ripred! He must be so hungry! Don't you think?" Lizzie was grabbing everything under the sun.

"Uh, Liz, why don't you just take down the whole fridge?" Gregor added jokingly. Lizzie was not joking.

"That's not funny Gregor." Lizzie was almost never serious. When you offened Ripred, Lizzie would always be offened as well.

"Sorry. So what makes you want to go to Regalia all of a sudden. I thought you were scared of the place." Gregor questioned.

"Gregor, to be honest I am. But I want to see my friends. Daedalus, Blueclaw, Ripred, Hazard. I miss them y'know?" Lizzie was crazy about her friends.

Gregor did know. He missed alot of people in Regalia. Mareth, Howard, Nike, maybe even...Ripred. Luxa was the exception. Her bossiness and what not.

"Let's take the laundry room route."

"Right."

As they descened the stairs, Gregor couldn't help but feel overjoyed. For once, Gregor might find light at the end of a tunnel. Being able to go to The Underland without his mom having an episode, his dad being on both sides, Boots is well...Boots. Mrs. Cormaci wouldn't agree with him sneaking away but Mrs. Cormaci wasn't there to stop him. Like she could.

"Ready Liz?"

"Yes! Hurryhurryhurryhurryhurry-"

"Alright!

Letting Lizzie go first, Gregor saw the green smoke blow through Lizzie's blond curls. One minute she was there, then Gregor saw her go down. Gregor went next. As he glided down the current to The Underland, he almost screamed with joy...

...but for how long?
