Phil walked into the local library, breathing in the smell of books that he loved oh so much. Hardly anyone knew it, but as well as making videos and gaming, he loved to read.
As per the library's rules, he left his bag at the designated table, noticing with amusement a bag that was a perfect replica of his. 'Hopefully I'll remember which one is mine,' Phil thought, before walking towards his beloved books and picking out a favourite.
He stayed for an hour or so, immersed in other worlds. He glanced up several times, noticing a-very attractive-man that looked to be the same age as Phil was, reading a classic he recognised and loved. Phil, though, was too shy to talk to him, and looked away whenever the man looked up.
'Time to go…I'm getting distracted by him. I wonder what his name is, though…or if he might be interested in me…no, I need to leave,' he thought, shaking his head firmly. He put his book away and noticed the man doing the same, but forced himself to think nothing of it.
Grabbing his bag, he made to leave when something caught his eye. A book he had been looking for on the shelves was in, advertised on a piece of paper a librarian placed there. He turned and walked back to the haven of books, determined to find it. But then again, Phil had never been good with directions.
Dan was re-reading his favourite book for the thousandth time, but he couldn't focus. A gorgeous man was across him, reading a very good book.
'Is he looking at me? Oh god, what if my hair is messed up, what if he knows I'm looking at him, he probably thinks I'm a creep…' Dan thought, seeing the man get up and leave.
'I should leave too. I'll never be able to focus,' he decided to himself, standing and walking as confidently as he could manage over to his bag, when he noticed it was gone, and the man from before was walking off into the shelves with it.
He walked awkwardly now, not sure what to say. After all, what do you say when a stranger you've been gawking at has walked away with your bag?
He looked up, not seeing said stranger anymore. Cursing himself, he started jogging around the shelves, looking out for the man when he crashed into someone.
Phil couldn't find the book he wanted. Deciding to turn one last corner, he walked straight into the man he had been looking at. With his lack of balance, Phil fell over with the man on top of him.
"Erm..sorry," he muttered, not moving.
"That's okay," Phil said, suddenly breathless.
The man moved to get up, realising he had lingered a moment too long.
'What am I thinking, he's probably straight with a beautiful girlfriend…' Dan thought, standing up quickly.
"Um, I'm Phil," he stuck out his hand.
"Dan," he smiled uncertainly, shaking the man's hand. "I, uh, think you have my bag."
"Oh! Sorry," Phil apologised, handing the bag over and flushing bright red.
"That's fine," Dan grinned, unable to stop himself thinking of how cute Phil was. "Er, do you maybe want to get coffee or something? I saw you reading one of my favourite books, and no one really knows about it, so…"
"Yeah, sure! It's one of my favourites too," Phil smiled brightly.
Dan smiled back, and the two walked out of their beloved library together.
