The show iCarly, named after Carly. It was Freddie's idea, and Sam her best friend agreed to it.
Carly and Sam were the stars and hostesses. Freddie was on the camera duty. Gibby, Spencer and the occasional intern would assist.
It was great the viewers seemed to be loyal and encouraging.
Only they didn't see anything that happened off-screen.
They didn't see Freddie and Sam flirt and kiss.
Carly surprising took it well. She knew how they felt about each other.
She knew Sam was happy, and Freddie was too, or maybe it was because Sam was getting softer, or maybe Freddie was getting stronger. Whatever it was, it sure was different from them fighting all the time. It was kind of … nice.
Although, if some of the crazed iCarly super-fans saw this, then they could lose some of their viewers, but apparently it was clear, the Seddie fans were right all along.
Sam was a better actress than anyone would give her credit for, after all she played out her usual regular insults to Freddie on the show, and afterwards sweetly apologising off-screen, puckering her lips, and devouring his lips like there were delicious.
Freddie would always savour it, trying to avoid the lens of the camera, avoiding any unwanted attention.
Only it was diffcult to return those feelings, without alarming everyone, especially his mom, or everyone at school. Their relationship would remain off screen. Off every screen, computer, phone or pear pad, because Sam aggression might be misaimed, might be too much, and she could end up hurt more than anyone else. Even if Freddie did love her, even though that. He still didn't want to see her hurt. He didn't want to see her cry, neither did Carly.
She only wanted them to be happy, and she could keep their secret, so would Spencer and Gibby, even Brad the intern remained mute.
Although they had to agree with Freddie, it was safer that way. Sam would still be Sam, Freddie would still be Freddie, just because they liked each other didn't mean they would change around everyone.
Carly was glad to know, that they didn't keep this a secret from her. She was glad they didn't forget about her either, and maybe if they weren't so shy, maybe she could have a double date with them.
Maybe when they could declare that liked, each other on-screen, maybe just maybe. In the meantime, they would be only that way off-screen or alone. Either way they happy and not hurting each other. Only off-screen would be safe to show their feelings.
