Title: Awake and Breathe
Author: Piiko-chan
Rating: PG (for implied content)
Genre: Romance
Summary: Arashi POV from January 2002 ASUKA
Author's comments: Okay, extremly short. There really wasn't much to this scene though so I had to try my best with what there was. Also, I really don't know exactly what everything meant and what happens next, so some of it is just a guess. This is my first fic, so please R+R, I'm kinda nervous about posting my writing on the Internet. ^^;;
Arashi awoke, eyelashes brushing softly against her cheeks, to the gentle warmth of the sun on her back.
Or perhaps it was the warmth of the man sleeping next to her.
Arashi positioned herself so that she was looking down on his face. He looked more serious in his sleep than when he was awake, but cute all the same.
Silently, and blushing slightly, she wondered how all of this had happened. Not just what had occured the previous night, but also how she had grown to have such emotions. She had not truely cared for anyone since her mother died, but all of a sudden she had found herself having strong feelings for a man that she had barely known. Once again Arashi looked at Sorata's sleeping face, and for the first time in years she couldn't help but smile.
Carefully bending down so that she wouldn't wake him up, Arashi gently kissed Sorata on the forehead. Then she sat up, pulling the sheets around her and drawing her left palm up in front of her face.
As an Ise priestess, she was supposed to keep her chastity. Arashi could already tell that the effect of losing it would be the loss of her powers.
For some reason she felt a bit of an emotional loss at this. Not because she had lost a friend, but because she no longer had the ability to protect Tokyo, herself, or the people that she cared for. Although being a Seal was her destiny, something that she had no choice in, it was also something that she wanted to do. She was still a Seal, as she could still create a kekkai, however she no longer could fight for these people. Perhaps this would cause Sorata's destiny to come true.
Holding her hand to herself Arashi decided that she would find some way to fight so that she could prevent this from happening. She didn't want anyone to get hurt because of her choices. Honestly though, she couldn't find this decision regretable. Although she had lost something, she had gained something as well. Emotions.
Suddenly she felt a pair of arms encircle her waist and warm breath on her neck. Turning around she saw the face that she knew would be there.
"What were you thinking about," Sorata asked.
Arashi smiled, catching him off guard.
"Nothing really. Don't worry about it."
Sorata grinned. "You really should smile more, it suits you quite well."
Arashi just continued to smile, glad to have gotten him off the subject. She really didn't want anyone to worry about her, least of all Sorata. She would have to set her worries aside until later. She would enjoy the present while it was here, and worry about the future when it came.
