Chapter 1 - Jade Harley
It was the first day back after Thanksgiving break, and the cold wind was whipping in from the door as some kids walked in.
It was only our second time actually in the pool, needless to say we were all pretty excited. Our coach, Mr. Strider, had us doing land work-outs for the past 2 weeks before break, so when we dove in we wouldn't sprain something and have to sit out the whole season.
Now, Wayward High has one of the most prestigious swim teams in all of New England. Me and my 15 other friends make up that swim team. You may be thinking 16 kids aren't enough for a swim team, that's only 4 per stroke. You would be right, Coach Strider only picks the best of the best. One year we only had 8 kids, the next 25, it all depends on who's up for the challenge.
"Jade! Get over here! Coach is calling role!" Aradia Megido calls from near the blocks. I pull myself out of my thoughts, and rush over, my flip-flops slapping against the wet tiles.
"Where the hell is Eridan!?" Coach Strider, demands angrily as he surveys the 15 of us. I walk over to the group, and stand next to Terezi who flashes me a toothy smile.
We all looks amongst ourselves, looking for the rouge rich kid. Slowly Feferi Piexies, Eridan's step-sister, raises her hand. "Yes Fef?" Coach says.
"He's still up in the Alps visiting his mom. He'll be back tomorrow," Feferi says. Coach sighs, but nods, he knows Eridan had a hard time when his dad re-married a couple years ago and tends to give him slack about things concerning his family life.
"Fine. Rose, lead the stretches," Coach says, before shutting his notebook and stalking towards his office. Rose Lalonde cracks her knuckles, and starts leading us into some lunges.
By the time we finish, my thighs are burning and my arms are sore. Coach never came back out from his office, so Rose continued to lead us in stretches until the end of practice.
I pick up my cap and towel, which I set on the bleachers mid-way through the workout, and run over to the locker-rooms to get a hot shower before the other girls made their way in. My flip-flops squeak against the floor, and I hurriedly open my locker and pull out my shampoo and conditioner. Then I turn and hustle over to the showers, careful not to slip on the slick tiles. I turn the corroded handle and a gush of freezing water sprays out on me. I squeak and fall back, onto a sweaty Rose. She catches me under my arms and then pushes me back up. I blush furiously and duck my head.
"Thanks," I mumble. I can see her stoic face smiling from the corner of my eyes.
"It's fine Jade," She says, patting my arm then walking through the showers to the lockers. I turn back around, to my now warm shower and let the warm water wash away my sweat. My heart is still beating a bit, from the close contact with Rose. She's so pretty, with her short straight blonde bob and those pretty grey eyes. She so small and muscular, but in a beautiful way that makes you want to gently caress her toned arms and calves. I shake my head, my long brown waves spraying water all over the cramped room.
"Hey! Jade! Coach says to not take long in the shower," Vriska
