The Speech
Hummingbird- This is a speech that Noodle might give if she was chosen to speak at Murdoc's funeral. Very short, do you call that a one-shot? Please answer that anyone.
Tigerlily-Hope you like it and remember still that we don't own Gorillaz!

Her legs were shaking as she stood up and made her way to the front. Laying her piece of paper on the music stand in front of her, she cleared her throat.
"Imagine a small boy, about 7 perhaps, holding a bass. What else could he have his mind on? Nothing good, that's for sure. It's the sad truth that turned Murdoc to his music. Was that a bad thing? And was it a bad thing that he went careering into an organ shop and bashed the brains out of poor Stu? Say what you think, because everyone said bad things about Murdoc at times. Hey, chances are he said bad things about you! Yeah, I know how crazy that sounds."
Her voice was beginning to fall away, but her last comment called some laughs out of the quiet crying.
"He didn't have a God to believe in. Instead, he poured his heart and soul into the Gorillaz. He gave me, and 2D and Russel what we needed. He gave us our strength. Even through all those harsh comments, he was always betting on us. I don't know what to believe some days either, but I'm just hoping now, that how he left us is how we will stay. Because he left us UNITED."
"He found time for everything. Good and bad. Hey, who else is going to teach a 14 year old girl how to play poker? He even found me the love of my life. Not like I had to look far, though. If there's any mercy in the world, he will be in the better place. He fought for the world, even though he wouldn't admit it."
There were tears falling from her green eyes and onto her black suit.
"He left us as friends and I will always remember the last words he said to me. He was sitting up on the sofa in Kong and he said," she stopped, putting her hand to her face, shaking.
"He said," she tried again, but it didn't work.
2D rushed up to her from his seat at the front and she rested her shaking head on his chest.
"He said," 2D continued for her, "'No matter what anyone says, you will always be the best guitarist in the entire world. Especially to me.' That was a big compliment, because insults were his forte. I remember how he used to hit 2D as well, i hated that, and I've never told anyone before, but he used to come and apologise to me if he caught me crying after he'd hit him. He said he'd kill me if I told anyone, but I think everyone should know how he was. He was nasty, but so nice to those he held high enough in his expectation. Murdoc Niccals was the closest thing I had to a father. He helped me through everything. He wasn't the good example, he was the terrible warning, but there's not one shred of me that won't miss him. I want to say goodbye to one of my very best friends. I want to say goodbye to my bassist. But I so want to say goodbye to my father, that is what I will do."
Noodle drew away from 2D, wiping her eyes.
"Goodbye, Dad," she whispered, tears still falling down her pale cheeks.
The vicar called the blessing and for the end of the service. As everyone left, Noodle stood in front of Murdoc's coffin as it disappeared behind purple velvet curtain. 2D laid a hand on her shoulder as she began to cry again.
"Let it out, Noods, let it all out," he whispered, tears of his own falling onto the marble floor.
Russel came up behind them and embraced them both.
"He left us," Noodle sobbed.
"He left us UNITED," they chorused.
His coffin was lowered into the ground in Kong later that day, with Cortez waiting, standing on the gravestone, the large effigy of Satan holding a bass opposite the other statue on the hill. Inscribed in red in the dark wood of his coffin was:
666: number of the beat
from Russel, 2D and Noodle.
