Love. For some, it's synonym of happiness and joy. For others, it's a burden and a pain in the neck. As for Maki, it was something she never felt yet was something she despised. She'd scoff whenever someone would mention it and roll her eyes when she witnessed it. She wasn't quite sure what the reason of this hatred was yet, right to the bottom of her heart, she didn't care.

Of course, there are some people who gain happiness from sharing their love with others. Naturally, Maki was fated to meet one of these people eventually. Little did she know her opinion of love would change...

Oh, yes. It was a day she'll forever remember. It was a fresh day of spring... She was taking a stroll to breath some fresh air after a stressful day of work. Hands in her coat's pockets and eyes on the ground, she accidentally bumped into someone; a girl. She looked up and nervously apologized, her head slightly nodding forward. Her purple eyes then met with the other's. To her surprise, they were shining with joy. Maki tried to say something to make things less awkward, but nothing came out. The other girl simply grinned, her head tilting slightly.

-"Sorry for bumping into you!" she said, her hand replacing her own short, orange hair.

Maki crossed her arms nervously and looked away. "Don't worry... It's not your fault." Her eyes darted on and off of the other girl's face and Maki couldn't help but notice her cuteness.

The stranger smiled at Maki's uneasiness and talked once more. "Hey, what's your name? It's not everyday I meet pretty ladies like you, nya!"

Maki jumped back as her cheeks reddened. "Why would you like to know?" She didn't even give the other girl a chance to answer before raising an eyebrow. "Wait a minute. What did you just say?"

The orange-haired girl blinked silently, clearly confused. She thought for an instant before realising her mistake, embarrassed. "Ahh! I can't believe I said it again, nya!" She hurriedly placed a hand on her own mouth, a muffled curse escaping her lips.

Maki couldn't help but chuckle at the other's sillyness and crossed her arms before continuing. ''... Maki. My name is Maki Nishikino."

The stranger grinned before answering Maki, her hands now back in her pockets. "The name's Rin Hoshizora! It's nice to meet you!"

The two smiled at each other for a moment, a pleasant and calm silence surrounding them, before Rin gasped as she looked at her watch. She panicked for an instant as she looked for something in her pockets. Luckily for her, she found exactly what she needed; a piece of paper and a pen. She wrote her number on said paper before handing it to Maki, winking at her.

-"Here! How about we talk once again, mmh?" said Rin.

Maki's cheeks were still red from a mix of cold and embarrassment, but she managed to say yes. Rin smiled sweetily before waving at her, leaving the park with the biggest grin Maki ever seen. The redhead then left the park herself, not before breathing in longly. She didn't quite know what had just happened, but she knew that it wasn't the last time she'd meet with Rin.

As she returned home, Maki took a look at the torn paper she had in her pockets. She sighed at it, a slight smile appearing on her lips. "It didn't go so bad... Huh?", she thought to herself.

Author's Note

Hey! This is short, I know. This is the first 'completed' piece of writing I did in a month, what can I say? I had no plan at all but the idea came to me so I ended up writing it directly. It wasn't too bad, was it?

Oh, well. I hope you enjoyed this story nonetheless!
