Soul Meets Body

Fiona looked up from the take out containers she was setting out on the kitchen table when she heard a noise. Adam walked slowly into the room, taking tiny steps and holding onto the furniture as he moved.

"Adam," she sighed, rushing to his side. She put one arm around him to steady him. "I thought you were gonna relax."

"I'm not gonna lay in bed for two weeks, Fiona."

She sighed again, helping him to the table, where he sat down. He winced, struggling to sit up before falling into a slouch.

"Baby, you just got out of the hospital two days ago. The doctors said you should be taking it easy for now."

"I am taking it easy. You don't see me running a marathon, do you?"

"Because you can barely walk. Where's your walker anyway?"

He pointed to the door of their apartment without looking. The walker was right where he'd left it when he came home. "I'm 25, Fiona. I'm not using a walker."

"It's just around the apartment," she told him. She sighed, knowing she wouldn't be able to talk him into using the walker. "Why don't you just go back to bed? I'll bring you dinner. We can lay down and watch a movie while we eat."

"There's no such thing as dinner in bed," he told her, leaning forward slightly to grab the Chinese carton she had removed from the bag. He winced again, sitting back in his seat with a groan.

"Careful," she warned. "You don't wanna damage anything."

He glanced down at the new bulge in his lap, smiling. "Yeah, that would suck."

She raised her eyebrows suggestively, smiling as she pushed the container closer so he could reach it.

"What, you aren't gonna feed me?" he asked as she sat down, making herself a plate.

She smirked and picked up an eggroll. He opened his mouth, she shoved it into his cheek, leaving a trail of vegetables and chicken.

"Nice." He plucked a large piece of broccoli from the stubble near his chin. "That's extremely hot, so you know."

"Sorry." She smiled, helping him remove the remaining food from his beard. She ran her hand over his rough cheek. "You really need to shave."

"Give me a break, Fi. I did just get out of the hospital."
