Destiny.

She grew to hate that word.

That word that controlled her. That word that told her whatever she wanted didn't matter. That word that forced her to be someone she wasn't. That word that made everyone in school hate her. That word that made her sit at lunch alone. That word that set her apart from everyone else. She was tired of hearing it. She heard it everyday.

"Raven, what's your next class?"

"Uh..History of Evil Spells."

"Oh, that is so perfect!"

When did she sign up for this? She didn't recall she ever did. Sometimes she wished she was a normal kid with normal parents, then she wouldn't have to hear about destiny. It made her sick thinking about.

"It's Raven Queen! Run!"

"She is evil!"

"Run everyone!"

What did she ever do? She's been a peaceful girl her whole life. She could be good at making friends if she got the chance, but she doesn't. Because of destiny. Her destiny was to be alone. Her destiny was to be hated. She knew she couldn't go through with it. She didn't want to be hated. She didn't want to be alone. She didn't want to be evil. It was all forced upon her. That dreaded system that created this destiny. She hated it.

"She has to do it! If she never poisons me, I'll never fall asleep, or kiss my prince, or be queen, and never live happily ever after!"

Everyone else got their perfect ending except her. They forced her to be miserable so Apple could be queen. That was selfish. She was selfish. Maybe she didn't want to room with Apple, but that never crossed that girl's mind. She always thought about herself. Did she knew how much she suffered? How hated she was? That by her ending that she was alone? No, she was thinking about destiny. And lucky for her, hers turned out fine.

"Now, Raven, continue."

"I have to go."

Those gasps made her wince, those whispers made her livid. Was it that much of a surprise that she didn't want to be evil? Then and there she knew she had to prove them wrong. This was her life, and she wasn't going to let anyone take that away from her.

Destiny.

It was her least favorite word.

But now she had a new favorite word.

Rebel.
