The Beginnings Of A Beautiful Hate

By: ShadowHawk (a.k.a. SapphyreBird)

Summary: Takes place during the episode "Heil Klink". What was going thru Major Hochstetter's mind after Klink arrested him? Could this have been the start of a series-long hate? I kinda think so. And this is what I kinda think Hochstetter may have been thinking as he sat in the cooler. Oneshot.

A/N: Don't expect much; I just typed this up right after the idea came to me, which took a total of about 20 minutes. As a new thought came to me, I would write it down right there, so I don't know if there's a real, consistent flow thru-out, but for this story, seeing as this is supposed to be Major Hochstetter's thoughts, it kinda works. Leave it to me to be constantly thinking of Hochstetter… God, I need to get a life! LOL! Please R&R! I'd love to hear your thoughts! Enjoy!

Klink… That fool! How dare he treat me like the enemy! And to think that he had the gall to arrest me! Me! Never mind defying direct orders from the Gestapo! Never mind defying direct orders from Berlin! To throw an officer of the Gestapo in solitary confinement… He should be court marshaled, shot, hanged, and sent to the Russian Front for that! He should be shot just for the way he spoke to me! So, he thinks we are vermin, does he? Well, Kommandant, the Gestapo can be very unfriendly when we want to be! We have our ways of making you see things the way we see it. And what was all that nonsense about a New Order?! Are you implying that there's something wrong with the way things are now?! Are you doubting our Führer?! Sounds like treason to me! I knew there had to be something about this camp! Never a successful escape? At first, I thought this impressive when I reviewed the file in Berlin to try to figure out why the local Gestapo hadn't done anything about the sabotage around here, but now I see I was mistaken… No. The Gestapo never makes mistakes! I was deceived! I thought I would be more than well-prepared to come here. Actually, come to think of it, I didn't even plan to come here! I know Brauner is here! He has to be! And Klink is trying to hide him from me. From the Gestapo… From justice! He's a traitor, and you're no better Herr Kommandant! Once I get back to Berlin, I'm requesting to be put in charge of security in this sector, then I can make your life a living hell! No one insults me and gets away with it! A new Order that will sweep vermin like me into the delousing station of history? Yeah, you and what army?! Rest assured, Klink, your words will not be forgotten! I will be sure to report all of this to Reichführer Himmler himself! Then we'll see what happens to your spotless record! Oh, I can't wait to see the look on your face when the Reichführer finds out about this and demands my release! I can't wait to see how you're gonna try to worm your way out of this! You just don't arrest the Gestapo! The Luftwaffe has no right to interfere with our business! And you can be sure of this, Klink: I will get my revenge! Ja, rest assured, Klink… I won't forget this!
