Harry's eyes wandered from one end of the dungeon classroom to the other. As Hermione explained to the class about Amortentia, his eyes caught Draco mindlessly gazing at his best friend. She droned on and on about the causes, effects of the potion and how it has a different aroma for everyone who uses it.

She spoke softly as she looked down into the cauldron.

"I smell freshly washed school robes… new parchment… rain, and…" she trailed off as she tilted her head to the side, catching Draco's intense stare. Hermione stopped herself from continuing and walked back to her station.

With Draco being on the opposite end of the classroom, that didn't stop him from watching Hermione pour the ingredients into her little cauldron. Harry stuck his head up and looked back and forth until he figured out on his own what was going on.

"Hermione…" he began, as he leaned in to whisper closer to her. "You notice the way he stares?"

Nervous, the brunette looked up and to her surprise her golden browns automatically met with his piercing grey eyes. It was how they looked at each other. Always. She broke the gaze when she looked back down at her book. It had her own little scribbles in the margins. She read them silently to herself.

Freshly washed school robes, new parchment, rain, and…

…his cologne.
