Hey! Obviously, we all know the idea of a live action Homestuck movie would cause a fucking uproar (and not the good kind)! But hold on, think of the potential it has! Not so much in the character dept. (a lot of headcanons would be killed), but more so in the graphics and storytelling aspects. Who would we have on board for this film?
Obviously, Andrew Hussie would have to pen the script. Maybe Joss Whedon, mastermind behind Firefly and The Avengers could lend a helping hand? He seems to be able to do source material justice. Look at his work on the MCU!
Who to produce? How about Chris Nolan? Of TDK and Inception fame? He would of course incorporate darker elements of the comic (Gamzee/Eridan's rampages, Midnight Crew) successfully as well as have an eye on the project (think Man of Steel).
Directors, anyone? With many names in mind, I have narrowed it down to three choices: Peter Jackson, Bryan Singer or Sam Raimi. All of these directors have many timeless stories under their belts. Who knows what they could do with the Homestuck universe!
Now there are steps to forging a successful series. Which are:
1. Split it into a trilogy. Have Acts 1, 2, 3 in movie 1. Intermission, 4 and 5 in movie 2. And finally, movie 3 will be Cascade. Lord English's emergence, as well as Acts 6 + 7. These movies would have to be lengthy.
2. Nic Cage is a must. Who could he play? A simple cameo is not enough. How about Dad? The few features he has seems to fit. Also, maybe Liv Tyler as Mom? Matthew McConaughey as Grandpa Harley?
3. CG and lots of it. I for one prefer practical effects, but considering the size and zaniness of the comic, the vast worlds and colorful characters require digitization to bring them to believable prominence.
4. Get the actors fans want to see. Fan service is necessary, so to forge a great movie the fans will enjoy, cast actors in the right roles. A pretty popular one i agree with is Chloe Grace Moretz as Rose. And I'm not a modern-era Disney guy, but Ross Lynch could fit as a Strider. Either or. And oh...maybe me as Eridan? *grins*
And for now, that's pretty much it. Thanks for the read, and I'll have more stuff up soon!
