God, I wish I had a copy of Majora's Mask and a functioning N64. Sorry if this isn't up to the standard of Kafei/Anju stories.
Link felt like a idiot.
Here he was, helping a couple to reunite, during a mission to stop the bleeding moon from crashing into the world! Why did he agree to help Kafei retrieve a mask when he should be preparing to face the Skull Kid? Thank Din he got the bosses handled, and found all of the masks, including the Couple's Mask, which was his reward for helping the two. All this, and he gets a mask which he has no use for, one minute before the moon falls!
So what if he collected twenty masks total? He might have to go back again, and do everything important again.
That changed. The two's embrace seem real, and loving despite the current crisis. And yet, despite the moon's crash course, they didn't listen to Link's advice to get to safety. Instead, they said:
"Please take refuge. We're fine with this. We're going to greet the morning, together."
As the two continued to embrace, Link, despite the time, slowly walked out, and calmly closed the door.
"…Yes. Yes you will." He said to no one, hitting the road as fast as he could. "…If you will excuse me, I've a mask to destroy…"
