Birthday Kisses (Dedicated to a new friend)

Their faces were alive with excitement, practically lighting up the dimly lit room that had been decorated with vibrant streamers and posters that all read various congratulations to the Fullmetal Alchemist for living yet another year.

It really was quite a mystery that he had, and this fact did not go unnoticed by the young Winry Rockbell. She was very aware that her friend could die at any given moment, and everything she had ever wanted to tell him could easily end up being left unsaid for good.

Even though she knew this, she was unable to verbally admit her feelings. His eyes were always on her mind, because they were her connection. When she looked into his eyes, she knew everything he had seen. He was like a book, and she had learned this well. She figured if she could just keep his eyes in mind, maybe she could see herself with him.

Truth be told, Winry had written her feelings down on paper many times, and she knew she needed to get it out soon. It was building up, and eventually she would burst. That would be even more embarrassing than actually saying it.

Winry brushed her bangs out of her eyes and looked up at the clicking sound of the door.

Edward made his way to the table where his medium sized birthday cake sat, collecting wax from the candles. As everyone burst into song, he looked up and caught Winry's eyes.

His face turned red in the candle light, as he looked away from Winry, who was mirroring his actions.

And if anyone had been paying enough attention, they would have noticed that both of them had subconsciously pressed their index fingers to their smiling lips at a secret and fond memory.

Author Note: Dedicated to BornOnTheBreakOfDawn. Happy (belated) birthday! Hope this short oneshot will suffice! I'm not so sure I executed my vision very well, but it's all for you. =)
