The Rematch

The day is hot, but the crowd that's gathered doesn't care. This is the fight they've being waiting for all day. The crowd's talk and side betting simmer as Chun Li, wearing her customized quipao, walks onto ring. It is more like a cheaply plowed stretch of dirt, but she doesn't care. She fought on worse. As she looks down, shaking her arms loose, lost in thought for a moment. Her mind is on the fight to come.

She glances into the crowd and sees Guile and Cammy; they ignored her plea to not to come and to concentrate on their own matches. She should have known it'd be pointless to try to keep them away. She's not worried. By the looks in their eyes, she knows they aren't going to interfere. They are just there to ensure her security by making sure the fight remains fair.

They helped her train after recovering from the hospital and they know she's fully recovered, but they still have worry on their faces. She smiles and winks at them. They smile and wave, but the worry is still there. She understands. Juri is dangerous and with the help of the S.I.N. organization, she made a name for herself real fast in the tournament. Juri rivals her not only in popularity, but is also younger and is in the best shape of her life; Chun-Li misses those days.

Chun-Li goes back to her mental preparation. Replaying the fight she had with Juri a month ago. She remembers how Juri had no concern for the life for innocent and guilty alike. What was more surprising was Juri's stunning speed and agility. She had aim like a marksman. And the unnatural power Juri used to knock her out had only one description: excruciating.

Even more annoying was the lack of information on Juri. Despite Chun-Li's best research and the occasional tips from an unnamed source, there wasn't a known explanation for Juri's mindset. No hidden rage for the loss of her parents or mental tricks that could be reversed like in Cammy. Juri was just a different creature. She has no measure of peace, nor wants it. No inhibitions, only an inner wrath exists in her. And that eye, that horrible power.

Chun-Li warms up with practice kicks. She feels good, even after she immersed herself in winning five fights the day before with her improved Hundred Rending Leg technique. It was a statement. Not that she had to prove herself to others; she's survived too many battles on and off the tournament to not be considered a threat. It was to tell Juri one thing: she's ready for a rematch.

The crowd gets rowdy with anticipation as Juri walks like a strutting succubus towards the ring in her customized spider designed outfit. As men drool over Juri, Chun-Li watches as Juri's left eye glows purple. Chun-Li recalls she did the same thing before they fought the first time. Chun-Li goes into in her fighting stance and waits as Juri walks onto the ring; Chun-Li doesn't let the grin on Juri's face unnerve her.

Chun-Li's stands strong, but she is cautious. Juri will make the first move. She always makes the first move.
