Chapter 1
"Come on sweetie we have to pack up our lunch" said the American mother.
"Okay Momma hold on I want to look at that castle over there!" shouted the girl.
"There's no castle there, it's just a bunch of ruins for an old castle." replied the mother with a puzzled look.
The girl ran over to the towering castle near a large, dark lake. She was only 11 and visiting from America. The pine trees and smell of the fresh mountains was nothing but inviting for her. She ran up to go knock on the giant wooden doors only to find the opened at the slightest knock. A filthy man holding a cat with gleaming amber eyes limbed to her staring with eyes of hate and confusion.
"What're you doin her' you rat?" he barked.
"I didn't mean to interrupt I just wanted to see what was inside this castle! Are you the kind or something?" she asked.
He continued to stare but took her by the shoulder and led her up the stairs to a large hall. A man with billowing black cloaks and a snarl under his hook nose was shuffling towards them. He had the appearance of a large under slept bat, with his icy black eyes, and greasy shoulder-length black hair.
"What is a muggle doing here?!" he said with a voice that was nothing but hateful.
"Foun' 'er wanderin about the castle." He said looking down at her. She shrank away at the word muggle. What in the world were they talking about? She just came to look around.
"I-I just came t-to see the castle." She said shrinking even further down.
They both were staring at her now. Why were they staring she did not know, but she was beginning to think coming to this castle was the wrong idea.
"What's your name?" asked the man with the hook nose.
"Uhh...Jessica sir." She said.
He looked from her to the cat man, to down the hall. The look on his face was enough to make someone want to jump into a pit of lions.
"Well have an interesting case here," he said snarling" I shall bring her to Dumbledore to see what we should do with her."
"W-Where am I?" she asked looking up at the man.
"You have no right to ask questions right now muggle."He said still looking ahead
He led her through a maze or corridors when more adults would bustle by each giving her the same questioning look. Eventfully they came to a statue of what looked to be an eagle, but it had the body of a lion.
"Yellow Parsnips." He said.
Magically the statue began to slowly ascend, spiraling while it went up. The man forced Jessica onto the stairwell as it spun higher and higher.
