Amy tossed and turned. The nightmare was horrific and confusing.

"No Shaggy please wait!" she muttered.

Shaggy didn't hear her and faded away. She was alone in this confusing stone maze with no way out. She was alone and it scared her. She hated the feeling of dread eating at her insides like a wolf. She ran this way and that way trying to find a way out with no success. She took a left turn and instantly regretted it as she fell down into a seemingly bottomless pit. The darkness threating to choke any and all life out of her as she fell.

Oh how she wished it were over. How she wished she could wake up and be safe in bed. This dream however was like a trap with no way out.

"Help" she shrieked.

In the next moment in a tangle of sheets she fell out of bed. She sat up and realized two things:

1. It was seven am which meant it was time to get up.

2. She was drenched in sweat.

Amy groaned and rose to her feet. She tossed the sheets lazily on her bed and stomped to her adjoining bathroom and rushed to get ready for the day. Ten minutes later she was on the couch eating her breakfast. Five more minutes later she was caught up in her favorite episode of Scooby Doo. Trying as she couldn't get that terrible dream out of her head. Dreams like that one had been happening for weeks on end. She didn't tell anyone because they'd think she was weird. At least that's what she thought.

"I might as well be an alien from a different planet" She mused.

One look at her family photos and you could tell she was adopted. She was an only child. Both her parents had blonde hair and sharp green eyes. Which sharply contrasted her raven black her and deep brown eyes. She didn't really fit in. At age 17 most girls talk about things like boys and shopping. Not Amy she was into cartoons and comics. Amy didn't mind the rude comments from girls at school. Indeed these girls did openly insult her about her "alien" ways. She brushed it aside and went on with life.

So here she was alone on a Saturday on the couch watching cartoons because for her it was normal. She laughed at Scooby's crazy antics and wondered if they could see her.

"Wouldn't it be nice if they were real" She said after catching her breath.

Li8ttle did she know that they were.

Meanwhile Shaggy was trying to figure out what HIS dream had been about. He'd been having them every night for three weeks. Each night the same setting the same girl and the same ending. It was really starting to bug him. He'd taken the day off from mystery solving. The last thing he needed was the chaos that was his day to day life. Now sitting next to the window he could hear the fighting . Scrappy doo was again being blamed for some random petty crime.

Shaggy soon grew tired of the racket. Going outside he pushed through the crowd that had gathered picked Scrappy up and retreated to the house.

"Thanks Shaggy" Scrappy said once they were inside.

"No problem" Shaggy replied sitting down.

Shaggy didn't have to ask.

"Someone stole a couple of gems from somewhere." Scrappy said.

"They blamed you again"

"Yeah" Scrappy mumbled.

It'd been like that for as long as anyone could remember. The world in which they lived was torn apart by fighting. Once a long time ago there had been peace. Many put all their hope into a legend that said. A princess would rise up and defeat the ones responsible for this mess. Shaggy liked the legend. It gave him a reason to hope. They all needed hope.

Amy was cleaning the house. Both of her parents worked 24/7 so she did most of the housework. She didn't mind she liked having something to do. Being alone also gave her an excuse to sing out loud.

Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you
We've got some work to do now

Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you
We need some help from you now

Come on, Scooby Doo, I see you
pretending you've got a sliver

Even in happy times like these she couldn't help but wonder where she came from. As cliché as it is she was left in a basket on her family's doorstep with no clue as to where she came from. This in itself drove her crazy with endless questions.

Who were her parents?

Why did they give her up?

Amy longed for answers. The desire to know burned inside her like a fire. People would always as questions sheor her parents could answer. She hated it when people asked questions. Mean girls at school did it to upset her. All she really wanted was an answer to all her questions.

The doorbell rang pulling her out of her thoughts. Putting the broom away she opened the door.

"Yes?"

"Amy?" asked the delivery man.

"That's me" said opening the door wider.

"Here" he said handing her a small package.

"Thanks" Amy called as the man left.

Closing the door behind her. She sat down on the couch. . The package was addressed to her so she carefully opened it. She slid the contents out. And opened the letter.

" For the answers you seek take a peek" she read aloud.

" Wow that's cheesey but okay" Amy laughed.

She turned the envelope upside down and dumped it's contents on the coffee table.

Numerous papers and photos spilled onto the table. Amy picked up one paper and read it her eyes growing wide as she did so. This particular piece of paper was a note like ones you'd pass in school when you got bored. She read it out of curiosity.

Amy are you bored?

Yes very.

I could go for a nap scratch that I'm really hungry.

You're always hungry Shaggy.

I guess your right Amy.

You know I am.

What are you doing after school?

Nothing.

You wanna go to the malt shop ?

Sure.

Amy was in shock. This had to be a joke!

" I've got to call Emmy she'll know what to do." Amy muttered
