Chapter 1
My name is Tobias but names don't tell you much do they? You probably guess by me telling you what my name is I'm human wrong. I can become human. I'm a hawk any way I was riding the thermals over the city of new York ever since Rachel the girl I loved died in the finial battle with the yeerks I've completely withdrawn from the rest of the world. I was flying over the city when I saw a girl with blond hair. Reading a book in her room was it Rachel? maybe she'd survived after all it was stupid but I had to be sure. I flew lower "Emma dinner's ready!" a voice called "ok be there in a sec."
stupid damn it Tobias she's dead except it! I thought inwardly but still there was something about her that I was drawn to she looked a lot like Rachel the long blond hair, blue eyes. I kept circling apartment and landed in an ally behind a GAP store I focused on the human DNA in me. I grew taller. My sharp talons dulled, becoming pink and chubby toes. My leathery legs sprouted out of there feather sheath and thickened. I heard the bones stretching, becoming more solid. I felt as though it was happening far off, my organs shift and change. It was a sick feeling. Which wasn't so bad, considering what was happening to my insides?
My wing bones thickened and became heavy. Fingers began to emerge from the feathers, and at the same time, all over my body the feathers curled and twisted and disappeared. In there place was pink skin an minimal clothing. My beak became soft, gradually belting into lips teeth appeared in my mouth. With a disturbing sound that resonated in my expanding skull my hearing grew confused and eye sight dimmed. It was as if anything more then a couple of dozen feet away became irrelevant it was good to be human but it also sucked no wings, no flight. I was also naked I saw a supply truck that had clothing for the GAP. I grabbed some clothes and quickly put them on. I normally don't steel but I didn't see any other option I tried out my voice "Hi. Hi. My name is Tobias."
