Disclaimer: Ryan Murphy owns Glee. I own a notebook. ;)
A/N: Hello all! I absolutely love where things are going this season with Blaine/Kurt/Dave… So I decided to write a story about it. That one story made me think up a billion other ideas, so here is one of them. I'm not sure on the ending, so if anyone wants me to make this a series let me know and I'll see what I can do. Without further babbling, I'm proud to present That Feeling of Awe, my first Glee ff.
That Feeling of Awe
Sighing, Dave put his chemistry book away. After performing at half time with the glee club he couldn't stop thinking about how much fun it was. He saw now why Puck and Finn, not to mention Mike and the new guy, Sam, joined. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Finn coming up to him.
Turning, Dave smiled and congratulated him on the MVP. He assumed Finn just wanted to thank him for not harassing the glee kids as much the last week, even if he was the reason why Kurt left and slushied a kid in a wheelchair. He couldn't have been more wrong. Finn wanted him to join the glee club. He had to admit, the thought had crossed his mind a few times, but he couldn't do it. So, he attacked them. Although Finn was right, they could unite, and consequently rule, the school, but before that? When the hockey players slushie them? Dave couldn't stand having to explain those stains to his mom, who would then tell his dad.
As he walked away from Finn, Dave couldn't shake the thought that he had just made a huge mistake. He enjoyed singing and dancing, the feeling of awe from the entire crowd emitted, not just the football fans. The one thing holding him back was his father. When he found out that Jeremy, Dave's older brother, had joined an art class, blood was shed. Literally. Dave flinched simply remembering the events that followed that day, that week, that month.
Doing that simple act, one which he had seen Kurt Hummel and various other 'gleeks' do throughout the two short years they were already in highschool, Dave remembered Kurt.
Kurt. Dave was awed by Kurt. He knew who he was, and, although the entire world seemed to be against him, he refused to change. Dave knew what he did to Kurt was wrong, and he did want to apologize, but he didn't know how to. What do you say to a kid you sexually, physically, and most likely mentally harassed? "Oh, hey! Remember me? Yeah, I'm sorry about what I did to you. I've known for a while now that I'm not straight, not gay, but bi. I was never going to hurt you like… that, but I just found out my sister is cutting herself. So, needless to say, I was freaked already. You calling me out like that just made me snap. I'm not making excuses for what I did, but I want you to know why I did that. Honestly, I wish I could come out, but my dad beat up my older brother when he came out, then kicked him out. I'm scared of my dad. But I am going to an anonymous therapy group so I can get enough courage to do what I need to do. Thanks, see you around!"
Yeah, not going to happen any time soon.
Besides, what would he do? Just walk up to the Hummel house? Yeah, Mr. Hummel, when in Papa Bear mode was a force to be reckoned with. And Dave didn't think that he would just forget the boy who had made his son's life a living hell for the past few months.
Wait! Where did Finn say that they would go to apologize to Kurt? Derton? Daxton? Dalton!
Quickly making up his mind, Dave climbed into his beat up pickup truck and googled directions to Dalton. He was going to apologize. Kurt may not accept the apology, but he would have at least tried.
