Hi, all.

Unfortunately, I haven't written anything of late. This is one of five oneshots that I've had floating around Tumblr for many moons. I can't figure out why I've never posted them before, but I've been in a strangely MWPP-era mood lately and figured I'd do some minor editing and share.

Disappointment

The light glinted off her fiery hair. Her eyes—the colour of peridots—were watching him warily over a few crumpled pieces of parchment in her hand.

"I… beg your pardon?" She asked, shaking her head to clear it. "I drifted off for a second."

"Never mind." James shook his head, lowering his eyes to his own parchment. His hand hovered over it, hesitating. A drop of ink fell from his quill, leaving a blotch over his untidy scrawl.

"Because, I thought you said something about Hogsmeade." She pressed on, sounding slightly breathless.

"I did, and you obviously weren't listening to me." James sighed, looking up. "I told you I'd get schedules of the other Quidditch teams' practices so we could work out patrol rotations and then assign which Prefects are on duty on which Hogsmeade weekends."

"Oh." A pause. "Good thinking."

She turned her eyes back down to her parchment. She couldn't work out why she was feeling slightly disappointed that he hadn't asked her… something else.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
