The 5d's gang was all at the garage/apartment that they had rented from the Zora, Martha's old friend. They all were anxious about the upcoming tournament but especially Yusei, who was feeling extremely pressuredby himself to get the new engine design completed as soon as possible. His friends were all watching their rather rugged looking leader.
"He hasn't eaten anything since yesterday morning," Crow whispered to the others while they watched him. "He is bound to pass out at any moment. Not only has he not eaten but he has not had a full night of sleep in about two weeks. We need to get him to stop." Everyone was in agreement but the question how would they keep him away from it.
Yusei had finally finished the engine and decided to take it out for a spin.
"Hey guys I am going to take the engine for a test run. I'll be back later." He said putting on his helmet.
"Hey Yusei let Jack and I go with you," Crow said going to grab his helmet with Jack.
"All right but you guys now I can handle this by myself right?" he said confused.
"We know but we just want to go for a joy ride with you," Crow said. The boys were all ready on their runners and ready to go.
"You guys be careful," Luna said smiling.
"We will," Yusei said. After the three all raced away.
The three boys were riding for about three hours when it was getting late. Jack and Crow really did not think it was a good idea for Yusei to ride this long.
"Hey Yusei! Why don't we call it a night and pick up in the morning." Jack suggested.
"Why the engine is running just fine? You guys can go back I'll be back in a few hours." Yusei said.
"Okay let me rephrase that. We are all going home. Yusei, you need a break and sleep you can pick up tomorrow, all right?" Jack said more forcefully.
"All right since you put it that away," Yusei said. "Let's go back then."
The three pro-duelists parked their dwheels in the garage when Yusei lifted up the handle to his runner there was a ticking sound. Jack and Crow quickly reacted to pull Yusei off of the dwheel just in time because the engine then went BOOM! However not before Yusei could be burned by the flaming explosion.
The three were blown back a few yards by the small explosion. The huge noise woke up the others who were all sleeping on the couch. Akiza told the twins to remain upstairs and went down to figure out what was the commotion was about.
When she saw Akiza was horrified by the scary scene before her. The only thing that comforted her was that the boys were all away from the fire but Yusei was burned!
