It had been a long, hard hunt. They were dirty and tired, and filling the grave site back in had seemed a much harder task than usual.
Neither had actually suggested it, but afterwards they had silently gravitated to the relative dry of the sparse stand of trees.
Their soft sighs of exhaustion matched as the bent to sit, shoulder to shoulder, barely a space between them against the rough bark.
The sun was just starting to rise, the weak, golden light promising a welcome warmth.
At last they could relax.
Heads drooped, as much deserved sleep quietly claimed them.
