"Careful," Percy said, catching Annabeth's arm as she stumbled forward. "You're going to hurt yourself."
"Stop doing that," she snapped, shrugging him off and very carefully pulling herself up on the edge of the couch. "Yeah. I know. I have one leg," she said, gesturing to the stump of flesh attached to her left hip. "I'm going to fall over. A lot. And probably get hurt. I'll live."
"I'm just worried about you."
"You shouldn't be."
"Why is that?" he asked, getting to his feet and wrapping an arm around her waist.
She shoved him off and fell on the couch. "Because I can still beat you up, Seaweed Brain. Never forget that."

Carter felt his breath hitch as Zia's bare feet crashed down on the chalk-dusted beam, her toes curling around the edges as she bent her knees to keep her balance. He could have sworn she was going to fall—it wouldn't have been the first time—but she righted herself and flipped forward…
Missed the landing, and crashed onto the mats below.
She glared at him, daring him to make a comment about her safety. He was smart enough to refrain.
Zia stood and wiped her hands on her legs, striding across the floor and stepping onto a spring-filled platform. She rocked up on her toes, ran, and jumped, spinning in midair so many times he got dizzy before touching down again. She stood perfectly still for a moment, then put her hands on her hips and smirked at him from across the room.
And, to add insult to injury, her tongue was sticking out at him.
